StarTech.com has launched its latest docking station, the Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Docking Station, designed to cater to the needs of professionals in fields like photography, content creation, video production, and computer-aided design. Packed with an impressive array of ports and capable of supporting up to four display outputs, this docking station is ideal for 4Kp60 quad-monitor setups commonly used in professional applications.
One of the standout features of StarTech’s 15-in-1 docking station (132N-TB4USB4DOCK) is its ability to deliver up to 98W of power to the host device. This means it can easily power high-end Laptops like Apple’s MacBook Pro 16, making it a reliable choice for professionals on the go.
The docking station offers a comprehensive selection of ports, including one Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 port with 98W power delivery, a 2.5 GbE adapter, six USB Type-A ports (three supporting 10 Gbps, two supporting 5 Gbps, and one for USB 2.0 charging), a USB Type-C connector (at 10 Gbps), four display outputs (two DP 1.4, two HDMI 2.1), an SD Card reader with UHS-II, a microSD card reader with UHS-II, and a 3.5-mm audio jack.
Undoubtedly, the most appealing aspect of this docking station is its support for up to four displays. However, there are a few limitations to consider. While laptops equipped with Intel’s 12th or 14th Generation Core processors using a Thunderbolt 4 or USB 4 connector with DSC enabled can handle four 4Kp60 displays, AMD Ryzen 6000 and Intel’s 11th Gen Core-based systems can only support three such displays. MacBooks, on the other hand, are limited to two 5Kp60 or one 6Kp60 display. The good news is that the Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Docking Station requires no additional drivers and seamlessly works with MacOS, Windows, and ChromeOS.
With a 180W power supply, the docking station can simultaneously charge a laptop while powering all the other connected devices. However, it’s worth noting that Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 docks with such rich capabilities come at a price. StarTech’s 15-in-1 docking station is priced at $330.99.
The StarTech.com Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Docking Station is available for purchase directly from the company’s website and through various IT resellers and distributors like CDW, Amazon, Ingram Micro, TD Synnex, and D&H.
