  • Wide range of embedded CPU compatibility
  • High-performance processing power
  • Efficient power consumption

AAEON, a provider of Computer-on-Modules, has launched its latest products in the form of two COM Express Type 6 Compact Size solutions: the COM-RAPC6 and COM-ADNC6. These modules are specifically designed for the advanced robotics and edge gateway markets.

Let’s start with the COM-RAPC6, which boasts compatibility with a wide range of embedded CPUs from the 13th Generation Intel Core Processor line. This module comes in a compact 95 mm x 95 mm form factor and offers customers various SKUs from the 13th Generation series. Users can choose from the efficient 15 W Intel Processor U300E to the powerful 13th Generation Intel Core i7 Processors running at 45 W. With up to 14 cores and 20 threads of processing power, along with deep learning inference workload acceleration and I/O device virtualization technologies, the COM-RAPC6 is a high-performance solution.

On the other hand, we have the COM-ADNC6, which focuses on efficiency. It offers a selection of embedded CPUs from the Intel Atom X Series, Intel Processor N-series, and the Intel Core i3-N305, along with 16 GB of SODIMM-based LPDDR5 system memory. The COM-ADNC6 is positioned as a natural successor to the COM-BT, providing comparable power consumption to Intel Atom Processor E and Intel Celeron Processor J Series CPUs but with significantly improved performance.

The COM-RAPC6 supports up to six PCIe modules, making it ideal for advanced graphics card installation and multi-LAN expansion. It features four single-lane PCIe slots and two slots equipped with eight and four lanes, offering flexibility for expansion. With up to 64 GB of SODIMM-based DDR5 memory, the COM-RAPC6 provides high-bandwidth system memory.

Similarly, the COM-ADNC6 also offers PCIe expansion options, accommodating either four single-lane or two dual-lane PCIe expansion cards. This makes it a suitable choice for industrial control solutions like programmable logic controller applications. Additionally, the COM-ADNC6 features LPC functionality and onboard TPM 2.0 for enhanced security.

Both modules come with multiple display outputs. The COM-RAPC6 supports five display outputs, including three DDI (4K @120 Hz), VGA (1920 x 1080), and eDP (4K @60 Hz) co-laid with single or dual-channel LVDS (1920 x 1080) for up to four simultaneous displays. The COM-ADNC6 offers eDP (4K @60 Hz) co-laid with single or dual-channel LVDS (1920 x 1080) and two DP connectors for 4K display at 144 Hz.

In terms of communication protocols, both modules feature a 2-wire UART, 8-bit GPIO, and SMBus. LPC connectors provide access to multiple serial port functions. These boards are designed for industrial environments, with wide-temperature SKUs capable of operating reliably in a -40°C to 85°C range. They also support two SATA at 6 Gb/s for storage. Other onboard interfaces include LAN connectors for the Intel Ethernet Controller I226 Series platform running at 2.5GbE speeds, USB connectors, and high-definition audio output.

The COM-ADNC6 is priced between US$216 and US$400, while the COM-RAPC6 ranges from US$354.00 to US$1,208.00, depending on the SKU. For more detailed information, visit the product pages of the COM-RAPC6 and COM-ADNC6 on AAEON’s website.
