While Intel enjoys its dominant position, AMD secures second place with a modest 12.5% share. Apple follows closely with a 9% share, thanks to its popular iMacs and Macbooks. However, when it comes to revenue, Intel outshines both competitors by a significant margin. In Q4, Intel reported a staggering $41 billion in CPU revenue, which is five times more than Apple’s $8 billion and eight times more than AMD’s $5 billion.
It’s worth noting that Apple has managed to increase its PC revenue by offering a range of overpriced MacBooks and iMacs. This has allowed the tech giant to capture 14.8% of the CPU market by revenue at the end of 2023. On the other hand, AMD’s $5 billion revenue only grants it a meager 7.8% CPU market share by revenue.
Interestingly, ARM-based PCs have not made a significant impact in terms of volume, accounting for less than 1% of the PC CPU market in both shipment units and revenue. This differs from the numbers reported by Mercury, where AMD holds nearly twice as much unit and revenue market share. According to Mercury, the Ryzen PC CPU unit share stood at 20.2% and the revenue share at 15.4% at the end of 2023.
Overall, Intel’s dominance in the PC CPU market remains unchallenged, with a commanding 78% share. While AMD and Apple trail behind, it’s clear that Intel’s revenue numbers are in a league of their own.
