KIOXIA's CM7 and CD8P Series NVMe SSDs have successfully passed certification testing for the PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications, demonstrating their high performance and compliance with industry standards.
- Double the data transfer speed and bandwidth compared to previous PCIe 4.0 specification
- Inclusion in prestigious PCI-SIG Integrator's List and UNH-IOL's official Integrator's List
- Availability in various form factors and capacities for different use cases
Kioxia America, Inc. has announced that its CM7 Series and CD8P Series NVM Express (NVMe) SSDs have successfully passed certification testing for the PCI Express (PCIe) 5.0 specification and NVMe 2.0 specification compliance. These certifications are a significant milestone for KIOXIA, as they demonstrate that their SSDs meet the rigorous requirements of the latest industry standards.
The PCIe 5.0 interface specification, developed by PCI-SIG, offers double the data transfer speed and bandwidth compared to the previous PCIe 4.0 specification. With the CM7 Series and CD8P Series SSDs, users can expect up to 14,000 Megabytes/s read throughput for a x4 lane SSD. To achieve these certifications, KIOXIA participated in PCI-SIG compliance workshops where the SSDs were tested against PCI-SIG maintained systems and other leading manufacturers of PCIe products.
With these certifications, KIOXIA’s CM7 Series and CD8P Series drives have been added to the prestigious PCI-SIG Integrator’s List. This list serves as a trusted resource for users looking for reliable and compliant SSDs. Additionally, the drives have also undergone conformance testing by The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL), and have been included in their official Integrator’s List. This testing ensures that the drives will function properly in NVMe enabled systems and NVM Express over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) environments.
Kerry Munson, Operations Manager, Datacenter Technologies for UNH-IOL, emphasized the importance of rigorous testing processes in building user confidence in data center products. The successful completion of these tests demonstrates that KIOXIA’s NVMe SSDs meet the high standards set by UNH-IOL.
The CM7 Series enterprise SSDs are available in 2.5-inch and E3.S form factors, offering read-intensive and mixed-use endurances, with capacities of up to 30.72 terabytes (TB) (limited to the 2.5-inch form factor). Similarly, the CD8P Series data center SSDs come in 2.5-inch and E3.S form factors, with read-intensive and mixed-use endurances, and capacities of up to 30.72TB (limited to the 2.5-inch form factor).
Maulik Sompura, senior director of product marketing for Kioxia America, Inc., highlighted the significance of NVMe and PCIe technologies in the SSD industry. He stated that KIOXIA is committed to delivering drives that leverage these performance-maximizing standards. Compliance with the PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications ensures that KIOXIA’s products can deliver on their promises.
Overall, KIOXIA’s certification achievements are a testament to their dedication to providing high-performance and reliable SSD solutions for both personal and data center use. With compliance to the latest industry standards, KIOXIA solidifies its position as a leading player in the SSD market.

Technology Explained
NVMe: Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) is a newly developed technology that has been gaining traction in the computer industry. This technology is a standard interface which allows for high-speed storage and retrieval of data from solid state drives (SSDs). NVMe is designed to increase the speed of data transfers in storage systems by enabling a direct connection to PCI Express (PCIe) bus, resulting in significantly faster access times compared to traditional interface protocols such SSDs. NVMe is particularly useful for applications that require lightning-fast access to large amounts of high-value data. NVMe-based SSDs are being widely adopted in the computer industry and are being employed to power data centers, high-end workstations, and gaming machines to support lightning-fast data processing and retrieval, which unlocks possibilities for machine learning, real-time analytics, edge computing, and other cutting-edge applications. NVMe is proving to be an invaluable tool in the field of computing, offering immense

PCIe: PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) is a high-speed serial computer expansion bus standard for connecting components such as graphics cards, sound cards, and network cards to a motherboard. It is the most widely used interface in the computer industry today, and is used in both desktop and laptop computers. PCIe is capable of providing up to 16 times the bandwidth of the older PCI standard, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and improved performance. It is also used in a variety of other applications, such as storage, networking, and communications. PCIe is an essential component of modern computing, and its applications are only expected to grow in the future.

SSD: A Solid State Drive (SSD) is a modern data storage device that employs flash memory technology to store data electronically. Unlike traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in significantly faster read and write speeds. This leads to quicker boot times, faster application loading, and smoother overall system performance. SSDs are known for their durability, shock resistance, and energy efficiency, making them ideal for laptops, ultrabooks, and other portable devices. They come in various form factors, including 2.5-inch, M.2, and PCIe cards, and are favored for their reliability, quiet operation, and reduced heat generation
