Samsung Semiconductor supports the Energy Collaborative initiative, led by the Semiconductor Climate Consortium, to develop a roadmap for low-carbon energy procurement in the semiconductor industry and attended the kickoff event in Dubai, emphasizing the importance of expanding access to low-carbon energy for the industry's sustainability.

  • Participation in global discussions on combatting climate change
  • Commitment to supporting environmental efforts and achieving Net Zero for the semiconductor industry
  • Active involvement in developing solutions for expanding low-carbon energy access in the Asia-Pacific region

Samsung Semiconductor recently attended the UNFCCC COP28 conference in Dubai, UAE, joining over 200 countries in discussing solutions to combat global temperature increase. At the event, Samsung Semiconductor participated in the kick-off event for the Energy Collaboration initiative, led by the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC). This initiative aims to develop a roadmap for procuring low-carbon energy in the semiconductor industry.

Last year, Samsung Semiconductor played a role in launching the SCC, a collaborative effort by the semiconductor industry to address emissions issues. As a founding member and governing council of the SCC, Samsung Semiconductor is committed to supporting environmental efforts and achieving Net Zero for the semiconductor industry.

The Energy Collaborative initiative, organized by SEMI and McKinsey, will analyze and provide solutions for expanding low-carbon energy access in the Asia-Pacific region. Samsung Semiconductor will actively participate in discussions to contribute to the industry’s common goal.

Dr. Hwang, Head of Environment Team at Samsung Semiconductor, attended the EC kickoff event and expressed the company’s support for this collaboration. He emphasized the importance of expanding access to low-carbon energy for the semiconductor ecosystem and anticipated positive outcomes from the initiative.

Joining the Energy Collaborative is another step in Samsung Semiconductor’s journey towards Net Zero. As a leading technology company, they understand the impact of current energy distribution on the semiconductor industry and actively engage with stakeholders to find solutions for a sustainable future.
