MediaTek, a leading player in the tech industry, has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation with the introduction of its new Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions. These additions solidify MediaTek’s position as a pioneer in Wi-Fi 7 technology, offering a comprehensive portfolio of products that leverage the latest advancements in connectivity.
The Filogic 860 is a versatile solution that combines a Wi-Fi 7 dual-band access point with an advanced network processor. This makes it an ideal choice for a range of applications, including enterprise access points, service provider Ethernet gateways, mesh nodes, retail routers, and IoT devices. Meanwhile, the Filogic 360 is a stand-alone client solution that integrates Wi-Fi 7 2×2 and dual Bluetooth 5.4 radios in a single chip, delivering next-generation connectivity to edge devices, streaming devices, and various consumer electronics.
Alan Hsu, corporate vice president and general manager of the Intelligent Connectivity Business at MediaTek, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing reliable and high-performance solutions. He stated, “Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 offers the same technology as our premium solutions with exceptional reliability in busy network environments, ultra-fast speeds with reduced Latency, and enhanced range.”
For enterprise and retail markets, the Filogic 860 offers a complete platform for dual-band Wi-Fi 7 access points, routers, and mesh nodes. It boasts a triple-core ARM Cortex-A73 CPU that supports powerful hardware acceleration for advanced tunneling and security features, meeting the requirements of enterprises and service providers.
Key features of the Filogic 860 platform include industry-leading 6 nm low power Wi-Fi design, support for dual-band Wi-Fi 7 with industry-highest dual-band MLO speed of 7.2 Gbps, and dual-band, dual concurrent capabilities with 4T4R for 2.4 GHz and 5T5R 4SS for 5 GHz. It also supports an additional receive antenna for zero-wait DFS and Filogic Xtra range support, which enhances receiving distance using an extra antenna.
On the other hand, the Filogic 360 is a stand-alone solution designed to offer best-in-class connectivity for high-performance clients such as smartphones, PCs, Laptops, set-top boxes, and OTT streaming devices. It features triple-band selectable Wi-Fi 7 2×2 with speeds of up to 2.9 Gbps, support for 4096-QAM and MRU, and Filogic Xtra range support for improved communication distance. Additionally, it supports dual Bluetooth 5.4 cores for gaming and other applications, as well as MediaTek’s advanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth coexistence technology for seamless operation on the 2.4 GHz band without interference.
The MediaTek Filogic 860 and Filogic 360 solutions are currently in the sampling phase for customers, with mass production expected to commence in mid-2024. With these new additions to its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio, MediaTek continues to push the boundaries of connectivity technology, offering reliable and high-performance solutions for a wide range of applications.
