Lenovo and nVidia have announced an expansion of their partnership, introducing new hybrid solutions and engineering collaboration aimed at bringing the power of generative AI to every enterprise. The goal is to enable businesses to easily deploy tailored generative AI applications across various industries, from the edge to the cloud. This announcement was made during the annual global Lenovo Tech World keynote in Austin, Texas.

Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the need for end-to-end solutions that combine accelerated systems, AI software, and expert services to build and run custom AI models using businesses’ own data. With the support of the new Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice, enterprises can adopt a hybrid cloud approach, leveraging NVIDIA’s AI Foundations cloud service to build their custom AI models and running them on-premises using Lenovo systems powered by NVIDIA’s latest hardware and software designed for generative AI.

Lenovo’s President of Infrastructure Solutions Group, Kirk Skaugen, stated, “Together, Lenovo and NVIDIA are driving a new era of Hybrid AI for businesses, designing the next generation of technology that delivers an AI-powered future now and unlocks the power of their data anywhere it is created.” The collaboration aims to simplify the path to generative AI for businesses and enable them to rapidly transform their operations using AI technology.

Bob Pette, Vice President of Enterprise Platforms at NVIDIA, highlighted the importance of flexibility in developing and deploying AI workloads across workstations, data centers, and clouds. He stated, “NVIDIA and Lenovo are providing a comprehensive portfolio of hybrid AI systems that businesses can rely on to power generative AI from virtually anywhere.”

Lenovo’s NVIDIA-powered systems are optimized to run NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, ensuring secure and stable production AI. The inclusion of the NVIDIA NeMo framework in NVIDIA AI Enterprise allows organizations to customize enterprise-grade large language models available on NVIDIA AI Foundations. Enterprises can leverage the latest retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technique and fine-tuning methods to build generative AI applications using their unique business data, optimized for production and running on Lenovo hybrid AI solutions.

The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR675 V3 server and ThinkStation PX workstation lie at the heart of this partnership. These systems are specifically optimized for production AI running NVIDIA AI Enterprise. The ThinkSystem SR675 V3 will feature NVIDIA L40S GPUs, NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs, and NVIDIA Spectrum-X networking. Meanwhile, the ThinkStation PX will enhance AI capabilities and deliver data center performance to the desktop, supporting up to 4x NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada GPUs in a system.

Lenovo and NVIDIA will also collaborate on next-generation systems based on the flexible NVIDIA MGX modular reference design. These systems will provide robust and secure solutions for demanding generative AI workloads, enabling businesses to implement immersive simulations and cognitive decisions at scale using NVIDIA Omniverse, a platform for developing OpenUSD applications.

Furthermore, the Lenovo solutions will support the recently announced VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA, simplifying the adoption of generative AI for VMware customers.

To support businesses in deploying AI confidently and initiating their AI-driven transformations, Lenovo and NVIDIA have introduced the Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice and Lenovo’s TruScale aaS offering. These services enable businesses to leverage a pay-as-you-go model, providing a range of solutions, platforms, and services to navigate the AI landscape quickly and cost-effectively. The Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice helps businesses bring AI from concept to reality by designing AI roadmaps, deploying platforms, and offering transparency into technology utilization through the Lenovo TruScale Hub.
