Welcome to the highly anticipated launch of The Lamplighters League! Today marks a significant milestone for us as we proudly unveil this game to the world. The journey from initial concept to final product has been a laborious one, filled with unique challenges, especially when it comes to creating a brand new game world and introducing fresh twists to the turn-based tactics genre. There were moments of intense pressure, when the build didn’t quite hit the mark or looming deadlines added to the stress. But amidst the hardships, there were also moments of immense satisfaction.
During development, we encountered a hurdle where the infiltration aspect of the game wasn’t delivering the desired fun factor, and a major deadline was fast approaching. We had to act swiftly and, under immense pressure, our team prototyped and implemented real-time takedowns in just a matter of weeks. Witnessing the shockwave from a mine travel through the water to take out an unsuspecting enemy was a triumphant moment for us all. It breathed new life into the game at a critical juncture.
Throughout this arduous process, we constantly had you, the player, in mind. We pondered over questions like: Will this ability work? Is the game still accessible? Are we rewarding high-skill play? Is Marteau’s character charming enough? Will you find certain moments humorous or emotionally touching? This game represents the longest period we’ve gone without engaging directly with our audience and community at HBS. Thanks to Kickstarter, we had the privilege of developing beloved franchises like Shadowrun and BATTLETECH with input from passionate community members. However, The Lamplighters League posed a different challenge—until now.
When we embarked on The Lamplighters League, we had grand aspirations. We aimed to create a game that strikes a balance between being approachable and tactically challenging. Our goal was to craft an experience that is witty and enjoyable, without veering into campiness or absurdity. Above all, we wanted to offer you an adventure where you command characters, rather than mere units.
Did we succeed in achieving our vision? That’s for you to determine.
With great excitement, we announce that The Lamplighters League is now available on various platforms, including Steam, Epic Game Store, Microsoft Store, and XBOX Game Pass. We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally share this adventure with you. So, welcome aboard, it’s a pleasure to meet you, and we sincerely hope you have an exhilarating time exploring The Lamplighters League. Light the way, agents!
