Get Ready for Monster Energy Supercross 25
Hey there, Supercross fans! If you’re as excited as I am, you’ll be thrilled to know that Monster Energy Supercross 25 is officially here, and it’s packed with some serious upgrades. Available now in early access for XBOX Series X|S as the Dirt Master Edition and Special Edition, the game is set to launch for everyone on April 10, 2025, on platforms like Steam, Epic Games Store, and Playstation 5. Are you ready to tackle the Supercross elite? Let’s dive into one of the game’s most ambitious features: the
Neural AI
.Meet A.N.N.A: Your AI Racing Companion
So, what’s the deal with A.N.N.A? This isn’t just any AI; it’s our Artificial Neural Network Agent that’s been evolving since we first introduced it in 2019. A.N.N.A is designed to simulate realistic racing behavior, and to do that, it needs to learn the ins and outs of the track. Over the years at Milestone, we’ve seen some incredible results, with our AI mastering vehicle control in a way that feels genuinely lifelike. But here’s the twist: until now, A.N.N.A. had only tackled smooth tarmac surfaces.
Teaching A.I. to Conquer Dirt
Now, let’s talk about the challenge of teaching A.N.N.A. to handle the wild world of Supercross. Unlike the MotoGP and RIDE franchises, where the tracks are relatively straightforward, Supercross tracks are a whole different beast. They’re short, compressed, and packed with tight corners and jumps—think steps up, tabletops, and walls. Each jump has its own unique approach, and figuring out the best way to tackle them is key to racing success.
When we first set out to program A.N.N.A. for these dirt tracks, we were a bit anxious. Could it really handle the complexity of a Supercross course? After the initial tests, we knew we were onto something special. The journey to implement A.N.N.A. into Supercross 25 took us two years, but the results have been worth every moment.
How We Fine-Tuned A.N.N.A.
During a race, A.N.N.A. must juggle a ton of variables: track design, speed, balance, trajectory, and the unpredictable nature of human players. This isn’t just a walk in the park; it requires rigorous training. For the first time, we wanted to incorporate the current Supercross season, but we had to start prepping A.N.N.A. much earlier than usual.
We began by calibrating the AI on our new physics system and then introduced it to past Supercross tracks. But here’s where it gets interesting: we added dynamic terrain into the mix. In real Supercross, the ruts created by the bikes change the feel of the track lap after lap. While most AIs would struggle to adapt to these changes, A.N.N.A. embraced the challenge. It learned to adjust its strategy based on the ruts present during each race, and the results were nothing short of impressive.
When we rolled out the 2025 Supercross tracks, A.N.N.A. was already a pro, able to navigate the twists and turns like a seasoned rider. Sure, it had to learn some new elements that hadn’t been seen before, but the training system we developed proved to be a game-changer.
A.N.N.A. Takes Flight
Let’s not forget the air section of Supercross—it’s a big deal! In Supercross 25, both players and AI have full control of their in-air motion, thanks to a dual stick setup that lets you manage the rider’s and bike’s weight. We trained A.N.N.A. on all kinds of jumps, and you won’t believe how quickly it picked up techniques like the scrub—a maneuver that reduces airtime and maximizes speed. While I was still figuring out how to nail it, A.N.N.A. was already executing it flawlessly. Talk about raising the bar!
Test A.N.N.A. on Your Own Tracks
Here’s the exciting part: A.N.N.A. will also be available on user-generated content (UGC) tracks for the first time! It’s like having a racing buddy who’s studied all the right textbooks. With the skills it has gained through training, A.N.N.A. can adapt to new environments just like any real-life rider would. We’re thrilled with how it has responded and are committed to making it even more precise in future updates.
Thanks for taking the time to read about our achievements with A.N.N.A. We can’t wait to see the incredible stunts you’ll pull off in Supercross 25. See you on the track!
