Intel to discontinue PC and smartphone interconnection application

During the Innovation 2022 event, Intel launched a nifty application that allowed PCs to seamlessly connect with smartphones. While Microsoft has been implementing a similar idea with Windows 11, Intel took it a step further with “Intel Unison,” supporting a wider range of systems and devices. It seemed like a promising tool, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Intel has now confirmed that starting from June 2025, the app will no longer be officially supported.

The description of the app has been updated on the Microsoft Store page, clearly stating that support for the app will be discontinued at that time. However, it’s worth noting that the Lenovo Aura platform, which is based on Intel’s system, will continue to function normally. The Apple Store and Google Play Store have also updated their descriptions, indicating the discontinuation of the platform. It’s expected that after June 30, 2025, the platform will cease to function, and its features will be deactivated.

Intel’s Unison had some interesting features, such as the ability to remotely control Tablets and quickly send files, images, and videos across different devices. Users could also use the app to make calls or receive smartphone notifications on their PCs and respond to them. Intel presented the app as a way to bridge the gap between PCs and smartphones, a concept that Microsoft has been heavily focusing on with Windows 11 and its integration with the “Your Phone” app.

It’s a shame that Intel Unison didn’t gain the traction it needed to thrive. The idea of seamlessly connecting our devices and having them work together harmoniously is undoubtedly appealing.
