Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt introduces new mechanics for Map Portals, allowing players to enter and exit maps without wasting portals, and respawning at the last checkpoint if they die, with a launch date of April 4th and new leagues for a fresh start.

  • Significant adjustments to the portal system
  • No more worrying about wasting portals for stash or trading
  • Respawn at last checkpoint if you die, with a feature to jump straight back without loading screens

Clarifying Map Portals in Dawn of the Hunt

Hey there, fellow Path of Exile enthusiasts! If you tuned into the recent livestream reveal for Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt, you might have caught some of our Q&A session. Today, we’re diving deeper into one of the hot topics that came up: the mechanics around Map Portals. There was some concern about how dying would impact your ability to manage your stash and trade items without burning through your precious portals. So, let’s clear the air!

The New Portal Mechanics

Here’s the scoop: we’ve made some significant adjustments to the portal system. Now, as long as you haven’t met your demise, you can enter and exit your Maps as many times as you want. That’s right—no more worrying about wasting portals just to stash your loot or trade with other players. Your portals now represent the number of revives you have during your adventures, so if you can keep your character alive, feel free to come and go as you please!

And what if you do die? No sweat! You’ll respawn at the last checkpoint, so you won’t have to trek through an empty map just to get back to where you fell. Plus, we’re working on a feature that will let you jump straight back to that checkpoint without any loading screens. Imagine that—no more backtracking to your hideout just to re-enter the map!

Dawn of the Hunt Launch Details

Now, let’s talk about when you can actually experience all these exciting changes. Mark your calendars for April 4th at 12 PM PDT. That’s when Dawn of the Hunt will launch across all platforms, including PC, Steam, the Epic Games Store, XBOX Series, and Playstation 5.

Curious about the economy? We’ve got you covered. There will be new leagues for players who want to dive into a fresh start. Trust us, with all the balance changes coming, it’s worth it! When you create a character, just select the Dawn of the Hunt banner, and you’re off to the races.

What About Your Existing Characters?

Worried about your existing characters and items? Don’t be! There’s no wipe coming, so you won’t lose your hard-earned progress. However, keep in mind that your Passive Tree will likely reset, and with all the balance changes, your character’s playstyle might feel a bit different.

If you’re wondering whether you need to start anew, we recommend it for the full experience, but you can still access all the new content with your existing characters in the Early Access leagues.

FAQs You Might Be Asking

You’ve probably got a few questions swirling around, so let’s tackle some of the most common ones:

Is this a paid expansion?
Nope! If you’re already a Path of Exile 2 player, just download the update. If you’re new, grab one of the Early Access Supporter Packs to join in.

Will there be a pre-download?
Absolutely! We’ll have a torrent file ready for the standalone PC client the day before launch.

What about microtransactions?
If you’ve made purchases in Path of Exile 1 and are logging into Path of Exile 2 with the same account, you’ll find your goodies waiting for you. Just a heads up: purchases made on PlayStation can’t be used on other platforms and vice versa.

Any new Supporter Packs?
While there won’t be new Supporter Packs with Dawn of the Hunt, we’re excited to roll out a mystery box and some cool microtransactions themed around the Huntress during launch weekend.

Stay Tuned for More Updates!

We’re thrilled to share these updates with you and can’t wait for you to experience Dawn of the Hunt. Keep an eye on our announcements for more info as we approach launch day. Your continued support means the world to us, and we look forward to seeing you in-game! Happy hunting!
