Mark your calendars! Days Gone Remastered is hitting the Playstation 5 on April 25, and this isn’t just a simple upgrade—it’s the ultimate edition of the game. With a slew of new modes, features, and technical enhancements tailored for the PS5 and PS5 Pro, there’s a lot to get excited about. Whether you’re a newcomer ready to hop on the Drifter bike for the first time or a seasoned player revisiting the post-apocalyptic world, there’s plenty to dive into. If you haven’t caught our initial announcement, be sure to check it out for all the juicy details.

Introducing Horde Assault Mode

Let’s talk about one of the coolest new features: Horde Assault. This survival arcade mode is designed to test your skills and keep you on your toes. Imagine facing off against waves of Freakers, Breakers, Reachers, and even Rager bears as you strive for a high score. The longer you survive, the tougher the enemies get—talk about raising the stakes!

Before we dive deeper, take a moment to check out the gameplay trailer below. Trust us, you’ll want to see this in action!

What Makes Horde Assault So Unique?

So, what’s the deal with Horde Assault? Picture this: you start in Cascade with just a sidearm. Your mission? Fight through hordes of Freakers to reach your trusty Drifter bike, your ticket to survival in this expansive landscape. Along the way, you’ll find Supply Boxes filled with powerful weapons—over 20 to choose from, including a brand-new flamethrower that’s exclusive to this mode. With random drops and a reset each time you start, every playthrough feels fresh and unpredictable.

But it’s not just about the weapons. You’ll need to keep your resources stocked and earn extra XP by completing Side Jobs. Running out of ammo with hundreds of Freakers hot on your heels? Not an ideal situation, right?

Survive the Ultimate Horde Challenge

If you can survive for 30 minutes on any map, get ready for the Ultimate Horde—a relentless wave of enemies that won’t stop until they’ve hunted you down. We won’t spoil all the surprises, but let’s just say the adrenaline rush is real.

As you fight for survival, you’ll also have the chance to level up and earn in-game rewards. We’re talking about never-before-playable characters, new patch cosmetics, and unique Injectors that can dramatically alter your gameplay experience.

Injectors: A Game-Changer

For those familiar with the original Days Gone, you’ve probably encountered Injectors before. In Horde Assault, they’re back—and they’re more impactful than ever. You can earn a total of 24 unique Injectors, split between positive and negative effects. Positive Injectors boost your score but ramp up the challenge, while negative ones might penalize your score but give you a fighting chance.

Curious about a couple of examples? Check this out:

Exploding Freakers
: When these guys go down, they explode. Perfect for thinning out the horde!
Wanted
: Start at maximum heat level. The pressure is on from the get-go!

Rewards and Bonuses Await

As you progress through Horde Assault, you’ll climb a Reward path with 35 levels, each offering exciting new rewards like Injectors, character skins, and patch cosmetics. Speaking of characters, you’ll get to play as six new faces from the Days Gone universe, including fan favorites like O’Brian and Skizzo. And yes, those patches you loved from the 2019 Challenges are back, but this time they’re purely cosmetic—show them off in Deacon’s cut!

Plus, there are bonus rewards in the Reputation Phase for hitting target scores across all four regions. We’re keeping some surprises under wraps, but let’s just say one of the rewards is something players have been clamoring for—hint: it’s bike-related!

When and Where to Play

So, when can you jump into this action-packed mayhem? Horde Assault launches on April 25, 2025, as part of Days Gone Remastered for PS5 and PC via the Broken Road DLC. Pre-orders are live now on the PlayStation Store, and if you already own Days Gone on PS4, you can upgrade to the Remastered version for just $10 USD.

Don’t forget to wishlist the Broken Road DLC on Steam or the Epic Games Store, too. We’re beyond excited for you to experience all the new content and features, or to relive the epic journey of Deacon St. John once again. Ready to tackle the hordes? We can’t wait to see you out there!
