Apple has officially launched the web version of Maps, allowing users to access the platform from any device and sync their data, with plans to add more features in the future.
- Users can access Apple Maps directly from the web on any device
- Data is synchronized with Apple accounts and recommendations
- Some locations feature a 360-degree mode for panoramic views
After almost eight months in beta, Apple has finally launched the web version of Maps. Now, users can access Apple Maps directly from the web, even if they don’t have an iPhone. In July 2024, Apple introduced Apple Maps on the web, initially in beta format. This allowed users to use Apple’s mapping platform directly from the web on different devices while keeping their data synchronized with their Apple accounts and recommendations. Today, Apple has decided to remove the “beta” label from the platform, making it active at maps.apple.com. This means that users on any device with a browser can access the company’s mapping system and keep their details synchronized with their accounts and associated devices. It’s undeniable that Google Maps remains the top choice for users, but with this new way of accessing Apple Maps, the company aims to provide users with a quick way to find the places they want, even if they don’t own Apple devices. Some locations on Apple Maps even feature a 360-degree mode, allowing users to access panoramic views of iconic places in different cities. It’s worth noting that, although it has lost the “beta” label, the platform still lacks some expected features, such as the ability to sync data with Apple accounts and other devices, as well as access to travel guides or recommended places. These updates are expected to be added to the platform in the coming months.
