- Some of Xiaomi's past best-selling devices are included in the list of discontinued devices.
- Users can still continue to use these devices as usual, with all their functionalities intact.
- For advanced users with technical knowledge, there is the option of using a custom ROM.
Xiaomi has just announced that several of its older devices will no longer receive official updates. Starting from March of this year, the list of discontinued devices by Xiaomi will be expanded to include four new models. Among these devices are some of the company’s past best-sellers, but they have now reached the end of their official support, meaning they will no longer receive new security updates in an official capacity.
The list of devices includes the Redmi 10C, POCO X4 Pro 5G, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 11 Ultra. With the end of their update lifespan, these devices will remain on HyperOS 1, which is still based on Android 13. They will also no longer receive regular security updates for Android. However, considering the timing of their release, this news shouldn’t come as a complete surprise.
For those who are willing to take a risk, there is always the option of using a custom ROM. But it’s important to note that this may come with its own set of potential issues and is more suitable for advanced users with technical knowledge to modify the system.
Of course, even without system updates, users can still continue to use these devices as usual, with all their functionalities intact. So, if you happen to own one of these devices, don’t worry, you can still make the most of them.
