That’s more than 1.5 times brighter than recently launched premium smartphone OLEDs, all while maintaining the same power consumption.
One of the key advantages of OCF technology is that it eliminates the need for a polarizer, which is an opaque plastic sheet that can reduce visibility. By removing the polarizer, Samsung Display has been able to cut the brightness loss in half compared to conventional OLED panels. This means that the display can maintain the same level of brightness while using only about 63% of the energy that most panels typically consume.
Not only does the removal of the polarizer improve brightness and energy efficiency, but it also contributes to the reduced thickness of the panel. OCF-applied panels can be up to 20% slimmer than conventional OLED panels. This slimness opens up new possibilities for panel design, making devices more durable and improving visibility.
