Introducing Altered Augments in FBC: Firebreak
Hey everyone! I’m Julius Fondem, the Community Manager over at Remedy Entertainment, and boy, do I have some exciting news for you today. We’re diving into a brand-new feature in our upcoming game, FBC: Firebreak—specifically, the quirky world of Altered Augments. If you haven’t heard of FBC: Firebreak yet, let me paint you a picture: it’s a cooperative first-person shooter designed for three players, all set against the backdrop of a mysterious federal agency battling extradimensional forces in the iconic Control universe. Sounds intriguing, right?
Imagine teaming up with two friends to fend off hordes of bizarre monsters while customizing your gear and leveling up. It’s all about having a blast together, whether you’re strategizing or just sharing a laugh over the chaos unfolding on-screen. And the best part? This isn’t one of those games that demands your daily login for rewards. Nope! Just gather your friends over the weekend and dive in for some good old-fashioned fun.
Become a Firebreaker
As a Firebreaker, you’re not just any run-of-the-mill character; you’re a combat engineer delving deep into The Oldest House to tackle paranatural crises. The Federal Bureau of Control has equipped you with an array of tools—some normal, others not so much—to help you on your mission. You’ll find yourself armed with three unique Crisis Kits, each containing a special Tool. Think along the lines of the Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector, an improvised device called the BOOMbox, and of course, the Altered Augments.
Now, let’s talk about these Altered Augments. They’re essentially Altered Items that the Federal Bureau of Control has managed to contain and repurpose for the Firebreak Initiative. So, picture this: the Bureau is in a bit of a pickle and decides to turn these unpredictable paranormal objects into weapons for their brave first responders. What could possibly go wrong, right?
Meet the Altered Augments
Let’s dive into the fun stuff—the Altered Augments themselves!
First up, we have the Garden Gnome (AI9). At first glance, it looks like your average garden gnome, but don’t be fooled! Attach it to the Electro-Kinetic Charge Impactor, and you can launch it at your enemies. Once it lands, it summons a wild lightning storm that damages and stuns all nearby foes while draining energy from surrounding batteries. Just a heads up: the Garden Gnome has a mind of its own and can wander around, so watch out—it doesn’t distinguish between friend and foe! Unless, of course, you’re in the mood for a little harmless mischief with your teammates.
Next, we have the Piggy Bank (AI16). This little guy attaches to the end of your Wrench, and when you swing it, expect some serious damage in a wide arc. Upon impact, it shatters and releases a whirlwind of paranormal coins that wreak havoc on anything caught in its path. Don’t worry; the Piggy Bank magically reassembles itself after the tornado makes its rounds. Just a friendly reminder: getting hit by a barrage of coins is considered rude in many cultures, so try not to take out your friends in the process!
And last but not least, we have the Teapot (AI44). When you attach it to the Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector (COFE), it turns your tool into a boiling water cannon. This setup inflicts burning damage on enemies, and the best part? It can’t overheat. However, be careful—it also means the COFE can harm teammates and can only clear the cold condition from them. And sorry, tea lovers, this Teapot doesn’t come with any actual tea!
