Microsoft is releasing a new update for Windows 11 24H2 in the Beta channel, which removes the ability to bypass the Microsoft account requirement during installation but offers alternative methods, and also includes a new error screen, improvements to Copilot integration, and bug fixes for File Explorer and the taskbar.
- Removal of workarounds for avoiding Microsoft account integration
- Introduction of a new error screen with more detailed information
- Improvements to Copilot integration and bug fixes for File Explorer and taskbar
Microsoft is rolling out a new update for Windows 11 24H2, specifically for the Beta channel. This update brings some changes, one of which addresses a common concern for those who don’t want to use a Microsoft account on Windows.
Up until now, there were workarounds to avoid associating a Microsoft account with the system, like the well-known BYPASSNRO script. This script could be used during the installation process to bypass the internet access requirement and skip the Microsoft account integration, allowing users to use a local account instead.
However, with the KB5053658 update, this capability has been removed. So, there is no longer a direct way to achieve this using the script. But fear not, there are still alternatives, such as using RUFUS to create an installation disk without this requirement.
In addition to this change, the new version of Windows 11 also introduces a fresh green error screen that provides more detailed information about why the system unexpectedly crashes.
Improvements have also been made to the integration of Copilot with the system and how it can be activated using the WIN+C keyboard shortcut. Several bugs related to File Explorer and the taskbar, which affected users of previous builds, have also been fixed.
If you’re enrolled in the Beta channel, you can expect to receive the new build in the next few hours. So keep an eye out for those updates!
