Clarifying Map Portals in Path of Exile 2
Hey there, Exiles! If you caught the livestream reveal of Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt, you might have some lingering questions. We had a lively Q&A session, and today we want to dive deeper into one of the hot topics: Map Portals. Let’s clear up any confusion about how they work, especially when it comes to dying in-game.
The Portal Dilemma
So, during our Q&A, a concern popped up about using portals every time you bite the dust. Imagine this: you’re deep in a map, and suddenly you need to stash some loot or trade with a buddy. But with a limited number of portals—sometimes just one—you’re stuck. The fear was real: would you have enough portals to navigate the map effectively?
Well, we heard you loud and clear! To tackle this issue, we’ve made a significant change. Now, you can enter and exit your maps as much as you want, as long as you stay alive. Think of the number of portals as your lifeline—each one represents a revive opportunity. Survive, and the world is your oyster!
No More Long Treks Back
And here’s another nugget of good news: if you do happen to die, you’ll respawn at the last checkpoint. So, if you forgot to set a portal, you won’t have to trudge through a desolate map just to get back to where you fell. We’re also working on a feature that we hope to roll out at launch (or shortly after) that will let you revive instantly at the last checkpoint, with zero loading screens. No more backtracking to your hideout just to re-enter the map!
Stay tuned, because we’ll keep you updated on all the exciting changes leading up to launch.
Dawn of the Hunt: What You Need to Know
Excited about the Dawn of the Hunt? Mark your calendars for April 4th! The update brings a slew of new content, including a brand-new class, five Ascendancy classes, and a whole lot more. Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, there’s something for everyone.
Now, let’s tackle some of the burning questions we’ve been seeing since the reveal.
Launch Details
When can you dive into the action? Dawn of the Hunt launches at 12 PM PDT on April 4th across all platforms—PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, XBOX Series, and Playstation 5.
Economy Reset? No Problem!
Worried about an economy reset? Fear not! There will be new leagues for those wanting a fresh start. We highly recommend jumping into the new economy, given all the balance changes.
Character Progression
Concerned about your existing characters? Here’s the scoop: there will be no wipes. You’ll retain access to your characters and progress, but keep in mind that your Passive Tree might reset due to the extensive balance changes.
Do you need to start from scratch? While we suggest creating a new character to fully experience the Dawn of the Hunt leagues, all the new content will also be available in the existing Early Access leagues.
In-Game Mechanics
Curious if there’s a special in-game mechanic exclusive to the new leagues? Nope! Everything we’re adding will also be part of the core game. Future leagues, however, will typically introduce unique content.
Stash Tabs and Microtransactions
What about your stash tabs in the new league? Any purchased stash tabs will be usable, but remember, the new league will start with a fresh economy. Your stash won’t carry over from previous leagues.
And if you’re worried about microtransactions, rest easy. If you’ve made purchases on your Path of Exile account, those will be available in Path of Exile 2, provided you’re using the same account. Just a heads up: purchases made on PlayStation won’t transfer to other platforms and vice versa.
Supporter Packs and More
As for new Supporter Packs, while none are launching with Dawn of the Hunt, we’ll be unveiling a new mystery box and some exciting microtransactions during the release weekend. Plus, the Paladin and Penance Supporter Packs from Path of Exile 1 are now available in Path of Exile 2. Check them out in-game by hitting M!
Thanks for sticking with us through this journey. Your support means everything to us, and we can’t wait to see you in-game when Dawn of the Hunt drops!
