A Tough Announcement from Cyan
Hey there, Cyan friends and family. Today, we’re reaching out with some difficult news that weighs heavy on our hearts. After much deliberation, we’ve made the tough choice to reduce our team size, resulting in the layoff of twelve incredibly talented individuals—about half of our dedicated crew—effective at the end of March.
Navigating Choppy Waters
Let’s be real: the gaming industry is a wild ride right now. We’ve been riding the waves of uncertainty, and it’s become clear that we need to make some hard decisions to ensure the future health of our studio. It’s a balancing act, weighing the long-term vision against the immediate realities of game development in 2025. Throughout the past year, we’ve kept the lines of communication wide open with our entire team, sharing insights about the challenges we’re facing. While the news of layoffs wasn’t entirely unexpected, it’s still a gut punch for all of us.
Caring for Our Team
For those affected, we’ve worked hard to cushion the blow with severance packages, but we know that’s not the same as keeping your job. If you’re in the industry and looking for world-class talent, we’d love for you to reach out. The gaming community is a tight-knit one, and we’re hopeful that our talented team members will find new opportunities soon.
Looking Ahead
Right now, our top priority is securing financing for our next project and stabilizing our studio. We’ve been around for a long time and have weathered storms before, so we’re determined to keep pushing forward. Our sincere hope is to continue delivering the unique experiences that only Cyan can provide.
Thank You for Your Support
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the love and support from our amazing player community. Your encouragement means the world to us, especially during times like these. Here’s to brighter days ahead, and to continuing this journey together.
Sincerely,
Cyan Leadership
