Hey, Civilization Fans!

It’s an exciting time for all you Civ VII enthusiasts out there! Since its launch, the team at Firaxis Games has been hard at work, making sure your voices are heard. We’ve been diving deep into your feedback and our own observations to tackle the most pressing issues. Today, we’re here to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next updates for Civilization VII.

Mark Your Calendars: Update 1.1.0 Drops March 4

Circle March 4, 2025, on your calendars! That’s when Update 1.1.0 will roll out across PC and consoles, reintroducing cross-play between the two platforms. Just a heads-up for Nintendo Switch players: your timing might be a bit different. This update is packed with changes based on your suggestions. While we’ll share a full list of update notes on release day, here are some highlights to look forward to:

Discover a New Natural Wonder:
Say hello to the Bermuda Triangle, which will be available for all players at no extra cost.
UI Enhancements:
We’re polishing up the user interface and addressing various reported issues.
Cultural Legacy Path Overhaul:
We’ve made significant tweaks to the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory conditions. AI leaders are getting smarter about achieving a Cultural Victory, so expect fewer annoying stacks of Explorer Units!
Holy Cities in the Exploration Age:
Now, you can convert Holy Cities when you create your own Missionary Units, which will always follow your chosen religion.
Naval Units:
They’ll now have the ability to disperse Coastal Independent Powers.
Multiplayer Fixes:
We’re addressing issues reported by players and making it easier to add friends with a 2K Account.

For console players, all previous updates from Update 1.0.1 Patches 1, 2, and 3 will also be included.

Oh, and about that in-game event, Natural Wonder Battle? We’ve decided to postpone it to focus more on quality-of-life improvements for everyone. We’ll share more details about this event once we’re ready to roll it out.

The Crossroads of the World Collection

Also arriving with Update 1.1.0 is the first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection. If you’ve snagged the Deluxe Edition or the Founders Edition of Civilization VII, or purchased the collection separately, you’ll automatically receive this content. What’s included?

You’ll meet the new leader, Ada Lovelace, and welcome new civilizations like Great Britain (Modern Age) and Carthage (Antiquity Age). Plus, there’s a Natural Wonder Pack featuring four new wonders: Machapuchare, Mount Fuji, Vihren, and Vinicunca.

What’s Next? Update 1.1.1 on March 25

But wait, there’s more! The March 4 update is just the beginning. Update 1.1.1 is slated for March 25, and here’s a little teaser of what’s in store:

UI Improvements:
We’re continuously refining the user interface, and the updates coming on March 25 are just a part of a much larger plan.
AI Enhancements:
Expect smarter scouting and settling from AI, with less aggressive “forward” settling.
Quick Move Functionality:
This will streamline your gameplay experience.
Custom Naming:
You’ll be able to customize the names of your Commanders and Cities.
New Start Positions:
We’re adding a new “Standard” Start Position that mimics the unpredictable map generation from Civ VI.
Optional Restart Button:
Reroll your map generation for more variety.
A New Natural Wonder:
Get ready to explore Mount Everest, free for all players.

And yes, Update 1.1.1 will also include the second half of the Crossroads of the World Collection, featuring the new leader, Simón Bolívar, along with two new civilizations: Bulgaria (Exploration Age) and Nepal (Modern Age).

Looking Ahead

Beyond March, we’re not slowing down. We have a laundry list of community-requested features that are high on our priority list. Some of the exciting things we’re considering include:

– Ongoing UI improvements
– A “One More Turn” button for extended gameplay
– Auto-Explore features
– New map sizes (all platforms except Nintendo Switch)
– New resource types and adjustments
– Teams support in multiplayer
– Hot Seat local multiplayer
– Research queuing
– Mod tools and Steam Workshop support
– More customization options for game setup

We’re currently figuring out what it will take to bring these features to life, with some possibly arriving as early as April. However, many will take longer to develop, test, and deploy. As always, plans can change, but we promise to keep you updated as everything solidifies. Thanks for your patience!
