Google is testing a new feature for Chrome that allows users to easily highlight and share text within PDF files found on the internet, potentially saving time and effort for tasks such as research or document navigation.

  • Convenient way to highlight and share specific text within PDF files
  • Potential time and effort saver for students and professionals
  • Continual improvement of Chrome browsing experience by Google

Google is testing a new feature for Chrome that could make it easier for users to highlight text within PDF files found on the internet. Currently, you can already select and share text from websites using a special link. But now, Google wants to extend this functionality to PDF files, allowing users to quickly access specific content without having to manually search for it.

If a PDF is available online, the option to “Copy to selected text” will now appear in the Chrome menu. It’s important to note that this feature is currently in testing, so it may not be available to all users just yet.

Once selected, the link to the PDF will be copied with the desired text highlighted, just like it does on the web. However, it’s worth mentioning that this change seems to have been implemented only in the Chromium source code, and it’s unclear when it will be officially rolled out to all users. We’ll have to wait and see if this idea makes it into the final version of Chrome.

Imagine the convenience of being able to quickly find and share specific information within a PDF without having to scroll through countless pages. Whether you’re a student looking for a specific quote in a research paper or a professional trying to locate a specific section in a lengthy document, this new feature could save you valuable time and effort.

It’s exciting to see Google continuously working on improving the Chrome browsing experience. From its lightning-fast performance to its extensive library of extensions, Chrome has become the go-to browser for millions of users worldwide. And with this potential new feature, it’s clear that Google is committed to making our online lives even more efficient and user-friendly.

So, keep an eye out for updates on this feature. Who knows, it might just become your new favorite tool for navigating PDF files on the web.
