AMD introduces the Ryzen 9950X3D processor, a game-changer in computing power.

AMD officially introduces their new X3D processors, including the Ryzen 9 9950X3D with 16 Zen 5 , cores, 144 MB cache, and second-generation 3D V-cache technology, boasting up to 64% better gaming performance and 10-13% faster content creation compared to Intel's rivals.

During today’s AMD event at CES 2025, the company officially launched its new X3D processors, including the next generation Ryzen 9 9950X3D. This model aims to be the successor to the 7950X3D, boasting a similar core configuration.

According to AMD, the 9950X3D features 16 Zen 5 , cores, a total cache of 144 MB, and a second-generation 128 MB 3D V-cache. Eight of the cores are optimized for performance with high clock speeds, while the other eight are focused on the 3D cache. The TDP is also set at 170W.

As you may know, the X3D lineup incorporates the 3D V-cache technology, which stacks cache modules vertically to significantly enhance performance. The second generation of this technology was introduced with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

When comparing its performance to Intel’s rivals, AMD claims that the 9950X3D can deliver up to 64% better gaming performance in titles like Watch Dogs Legion. In 40 other games, AMD also asserts that its processor consistently outperforms the competition, with a 20% performance advantage over Intel’s products.

In addition to Intel’s rivals, AMD also compared the new model to its previous 7950X3D, showing an average improvement of 8% across more than 40 different games. In games like Counter Strike 2, the performance boost is nearly 58%.

In terms of content creation, AMD claims that the new 9950X3D is up to 10% faster in tasks compared to Intel’s 285K, and up to 13% faster than the 7950X3D across more than 20 different applications. This new model is particularly appealing for those working with rendering applications like Blender.

Alongside the 16-core, 32-thread 9950X3D, AMD also launched the 9900X3D today, featuring 12 cores and 24 threads. The remaining specifications are similar, with a clock speed of 5.5 GHz, 140 MB of cache, and a 120W TDP.

Both models are expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2025, although final pricing details have not been disclosed. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting new processors from AMD.
