Microsoft is rolling out the Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 today, bringing along the latest security fixes for the system. This November update comes with patches for 91 security vulnerabilities, including 4 zero-day flaws, 2 of which are actively being exploited in attacks. Given the significant number and severity of these fixes, it’s definitely recommended to install the update.
The KB5046617 and KB5046633 updates are now available for Windows 11, and users can easily install them through the System Settings in Windows Update. Among the various security fixes, these updates address four zero-day vulnerabilities that are currently being actively exploited in attacks. These flaws affect different processes in Windows and could potentially allow malicious commands to be executed or grant administrative permissions on the system.
In addition to security patches, these updates also provide fixes for certain system functionalities. One of them addresses an issue with the display of active processes in the Task Manager, which could sometimes incorrectly report 0 processes. There’s also a fix for an access problem with the Dev Drive, and now it’s possible to prevent the system from recommending to turn off notifications from an app.
Furthermore, a bug that could prevent users from adding new accounts to the system has been resolved, as the configuration screen was unresponsive to requests. The update should be automatically installed on systems, but users can also manually check for new versions through Windows Update.
It’s crucial to keep our devices up to date with the latest security patches to protect ourselves from potential threats. So, take a few moments to ensure your Windows 11 system is running on the latest update. Stay safe out there!
