YouTube introduces new features for video playback, including precise speed control, a resizable mini-player for multitasking, optimized interface for Smart TVs, easier playlist sharing, new badges for user achievements, and a timer feature, gradually rolling out to users over the next few days.
- Greater control over video playback speed with precision increments of 0.05x
- New mini-player for multitasking on Android and iOS devices
- Optimized interface for easier navigation and improved user experience
YouTube users can now enjoy a range of new features for video playback on the platform. These updates come after months of testing by the company. One notable addition is the ability to control video playback speed with greater precision, allowing users to adjust the speed in increments of 0.05x. Previously, the options were limited to preset values between 0.25x and 2x.
For Android and iOS users, the latest version of YouTube introduces a new mini-player that can be resized and moved to different areas of the screen, enabling multitasking while watching videos. Smart TV users accessing the app will also benefit from improvements tailored to Shorts content. The interface has been optimized for easier reading of comments and navigating menus without interrupting video playback. Additionally, minor visual changes have been made to enhance the overall user experience.
Sharing playlists with friends and family has become quicker and more convenient, thanks to the introduction of unique links and QR codes. Users with playlist editing permissions can even customize the cover images or utilize AI to generate them.
Furthermore, YouTube has introduced new badges that users can earn based on their actions within the platform. For instance, being the first subscriber to a channel or achieving specific milestones can earn users these badges.
Lastly, a timer feature has been implemented, allowing users to set a specific duration for video playback. Once the set time elapses, the video will automatically stop. The configurable time range spans from 10 minutes to one hour.
These exciting updates will gradually roll out to users over the next few days.
