- Increased interactivity on WhatsApp's Status updates
- Ability to add music to updates, similar to Instagram and Facebook Stories
- Partnership with Universal Music Group to expand music content on the platform
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to add music to their Status updates, similar to what can be done on Instagram and Facebook Stories. This functionality will bring more interactivity to WhatsApp’s Status content, giving users the ability to include music in their updates.
According to WABetaInfo, the feature is currently in development and can be found in the internal code of the WhatsApp Beta version 2.24.22.11 for Android. Users will be able to access it through a musical note button located at the top of the Status options. From there, they can search for songs or choose from a selection of recommended tracks.
Although the feature seems to be still under active development and not functioning properly at the moment, it is an exciting addition for WhatsApp users who enjoy sharing their favorite music with their contacts.
This announcement comes after Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, confirmed a partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG) in August of this year. This collaboration aims to expand the music content available on the platform, further enhancing the user experience.
Unfortunately, there is no information available regarding the exact release date of this new feature for all WhatsApp users. Considering its current development phase, it may still take a few months before it becomes widely available. Nevertheless, it is a promising update that will undoubtedly enhance the overall user experience on WhatsApp.
