QNAP Systems, Inc., a innovator in computing, networking, and storage solutions, has made an exciting announcement today. The company has introduced support for QuTS hero, QNAP’s ZFS-based NAS operating system, to its popular TS-253E and TS-453E NAS models.
The TS-253E-8G comes with 2 drive bays and 8 GB RAM, while the TS-453E-8G offers 4 drive bays and 8 GB RAM. These models are part of the TS-x53E series, which is powered by an Intel Celeron J6412 quad-core processor, capable of bursting up to 2.6 GHz. QNAP has committed to providing support for this processor until 2029, ensuring longevity for users.
What sets the TS-253E apart is that it is currently the QNAP NAS model with the fewest drive bays that supports QuTS hero. This means that even small-sized organizations can now benefit from the advanced ZFS technologies offered by QuTS hero. These technologies include features like Self-healing and WORM (Write Once, Read Many Times) for data integrity, snapshots with up to 65,536 versions, and inline data deduplication for maximizing storage efficiency. Additionally, businesses can implement a zero RPO (Recovery Point Objective) disaster recovery plan by utilizing real-time SnapSync, which enables real-time data synchronization between two NAS devices.
It’s important to note that switching between QTS 5.2.1 and QuTS hero h5.2.1 is currently only available for the TS-253E and TS-453E NAS models. Support for other NAS models will be announced at a later date. Users who wish to switch their NAS operating system must back up their data to another storage solution, such as another QNAP NAS, myQNAPcloud Storage, or cloud storage.
