The Internet Archive's platform is experiencing ongoing issues and potential DDoS attacks, following previous attacks resulting in data theft and unauthorized access to their ticketing system.
1. The Internet Archive's platform is back up and running after a series of attacks, including DDoS attacks and direct attacks on the platform resulting in data theft. 2. The platform has experienced multiple attacks this month alone, highlighting the severity of the situation. 3. The platform's ticketing system was also targeted, showing the extent of the attacks and the potential impact on users' personal information.
Yesterday, the Internet Archive confirmed that its platform was back up and running after a series of attacks, including DDoS attacks and direct attacks on the platform resulting in data theft. However, less than a day later, the platform is once again inaccessible. The site is experiencing loading failures and other errors, suggesting that not all issues have been resolved.
Currently, accessing the Wayback Machine’s homepage yields no content, although some sections, such as the blog, are loading normally. The exact cause of this problem is still unknown, but it could certainly have an impact on those who rely on accessing its content. Considering the ongoing failures, it appears that the platform is once again facing a wave of DDoS attacks, marking the fourth attack this month alone.
It’s worth noting that on October 9th, the platform suffered an attack resulting in the theft of data from 31 million users. This included emails, usernames, and encrypted passwords. A second attack occurred in the following days, targeting the platform’s ticketing system, where attackers used old tokens to gain access and send messages to tickets created since 2018.
