- High-speed network infrastructure management within a limited budget
- MC-LAG redundancy for uninterrupted switch networking
- Flexibility and scalability for secure high-speed network infrastructure
QNAP Systems, a innovator in computing, networking, and storage solutions, has launched its latest offering, the QSW-M7308R-4X, a 100GbE managed switch. This switch supports the latest QSS Pro with L3 Lite management capabilities, making it an ideal choice for enterprises looking to efficiently manage high-speed network infrastructure within a limited budget.
One of the standout features of the QSW-M7308R-4X is its MC-LAG redundancy, which ensures uninterrupted switch networking. This is crucial for enterprises that rely on high-bandwidth applications such as 4K/8K video streaming, Big Data, AI, and AV-over-IP. With the QSW-M7308R-4X, enterprises can expand their network scale conveniently to meet future requirements.
Jerry Deng, Product Manager of QNAP, highlighted the significance of a 100GbE switch with high-density ports in enabling enterprises to scale their networks effectively. He emphasized that the QSW-M7308R-4X L3 Lite switch adds flexibility to enterprise network management and provides scalability for secure high-speed network infrastructure. This ultimately leads to reduced maintenance and management costs.
The QSW-M7308R-4X boasts twelve network ports, including four 100GbE QSFP28 and eight 25GbE SFP28 fiber ports. The 25GbE SFP28 interface is also backward compatible with 10GbE SFP+ and 1Gb SFP. In terms of network management, the switch adopts the latest QNAP Switch System (QSS) Pro software, which offers L3 Lite management capabilities. This includes IP settings (IPv4, IPv6, DNS), static routing, DHCP server, SNTP, and advanced VLAN features. These features enable more granular deployment and management of segmented network transmission infrastructures.
Additionally, the QSW-M7308R-4X supports Multi-chassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG), ensuring uninterrupted switch networking and providing high availability and fault tolerance. It also features IGMP Snooping functions and SNMP management, along with an AV-over-IP wizard. These capabilities allow the switch to connect multiple AV endpoints and forward multicast traffic, reducing network congestion and unnecessary data transmission. This results in improved network connection efficiency and optimized network management.
In terms of specifications, the QSW-M7308R-4X is a half-depth rackmount L3 Lite managed switch with 4 x 100GbE QSFP28 ports and 8 x 25GbE SFP28 ports. It has a switching capacity of up to 1200Gbps and is compliant with IEEE 802.3x Auto Negotiation. Notably, models shipped with QSS can be updated to use QSS Pro.

Technology Explained
VLAN: VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is a technology used in computer networking that allows for the segmentation of a physical network into multiple logical networks. It is used to create multiple isolated networks within a single physical network, allowing for greater flexibility and control over network traffic. VLANs are commonly used in the computer industry to separate different departments or groups of users, such as those in a large organization, or to provide secure access to a network. VLANs can also be used to segment a network into multiple virtual networks, allowing for greater control over network traffic and improved security. Additionally, VLANs can be used to provide access to a network from remote locations, such as from home or from a mobile device.
