Acer introduces Chromebook Plus: Boosted Productivity and Gaming Empowered by Google AI

Acer has released two new premium Chromebook Plus laptops, the Spin 714 and 516 GE, with versatile designs, faster processors, increased memory and storage, and AI features for productivity, creativity, and gaming.

Acer has launched two new premium Chromebook Plus Laptops, the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 and Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE. These laptops offer versatile designs, faster processors, and increased memory and storage, allowing users to multitask and be more productive. As Chromebook Plus devices, they also support enhanced generative AI features for connectivity, creativity, and collaboration.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is a slim convertible laptop designed for on-the-go productivity. It features a 360-degree hinge that allows it to be used in various ways and places. On the other hand, the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is a next-generation cloud-gaming Chromebook with gaming-centric hardware that enables users to stream and play AAA games with platforms like nVidia Geforce NOW, XBOX Cloud Gaming, Boosteroid, and Amazon Luna.

According to James Lin, General Manager of Notebooks at Acer Inc., these new Chromebook Plus laptops take full advantage of new Google AI capabilities to deliver experiences to users. He also emphasizes the power and flexibility of the ChromeOS ecosystem and the importance of user-centric design.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is compact, durable, and performance-minded. It is powered by Intel Core Ultra 7 processors and offers AI-powered Google and Adobe apps for writing, designing, editing photos and videos, generating summaries, and personalizing emails. With double the speed, memory, and storage, this Chromebook provides all-day productivity. Its convertible design allows it to be used as a traditional laptop or a tablet for note-taking and sketching. The 14-inch touchscreen display offers vibrant images and supports AI-powered features such as generative wallpapers and Google Photos Magic Editor. The Chromebook also features a high-quality webcam, AI-powered audio and video enhancements, dual microphones, dual upward-facing speakers, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, and various ports for connectivity.

On the other hand, the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE is designed for immersive cloud gaming. It supports NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming service and features 13th Gen Intel Core i7 processors and a high-resolution display with a fast 120 Hz Refresh Rate. The display’s 100% sRGB color gamut delivers vibrant and accurate images, while the DTS audio provides an immersive gaming experience. The Chromebook also offers a reliable connection with its RJ-45 2.5G Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and fast and secure Wi-Fi 6E. It features a gaming keyboard with preset backlight color modes and Anti-Ghosting technology. Additionally, it supports generative AI creation and collaboration features in ChromeOS and Adobe apps, as well as a Game dashboard for customizing the gaming experience and sharing gameplay progress. The Chromebook Plus 516 GE also includes a high-quality webcam with AI-powered video call tools, up to 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage, up to 16 GB of fast LPDDR4X memory, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is also available for enterprise and education customers with management capabilities through the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade and Chrome Education Upgrade. These upgrades provide advanced security settings, virus protection, streamlined device enrollment, infrastructure integration, and management capabilities for IT departments and schools.

The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 will be available in North America and EMEA in May, starting at $749.99 and EUR 979, respectively. The Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE will be available in North America in May, starting at $699.99. Pricing and availability may vary by region.
