During the recent Huawei Analyst Summit, industry experts gathered to discuss the application of F5.5G optical technologies in building intelligent homes and industries. Bob Chen, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, emphasized the need for a high-quality computing network to support the intelligent era. This network should have 99.9999% availability and 1 ms Latency, enabling ubiquitous access to computing power and connecting various industries.
Chen highlighted the challenges posed by the integration of AI foundation models into different sectors and the development of multi-layer and distributed architecture in intelligent computing data centers. The F5.5G all-optical premium computing network emerged as the best solution, consisting of three key components.
Firstly, the 3D-mesh backbone computing network, with its 3D-mesh architecture, ultra-high bandwidth, and high availability, ensures efficient interconnection and collaboration between intelligent computing data centers. It connects computing resources across operators, industries, data centers, and the Internet.
Secondly, the one-hop metro computing network reduces interconnection latency to 1 ms through a full-mesh metro core network. Optical transport network (OTN) technology enables all-optical switching and one-hop transmission of services, meeting the computing access requirements of individuals, homes, and enterprises.
Lastly, the 10 Gbps intelligent access network provides ultra-broadband pipes through 50G PON to homes and 10G FTTR to rooms. Intelligent identification of access services, hard slicing, and interconnection with upstream OTN hard pipes ensure a localized experience for high-computing-power services like cloud PC and cloud rendering.
To efficiently manage these complex networks and ensure uninterrupted computing power, an intelligent management and control platform is implemented. This platform supports fast access to computing power and enables efficient operations and maintenance.
Industry representatives such as Martin Creaner, Director General of WBBA, and Gao Hongfu, Deputy Managing Director of the Optical Network Alliance (ONA), delivered speeches during the summit, emphasizing the importance of scenario-specific applications and experience upgrades. They highlighted the opportunities for development in the F5.5G optical industry and the ushering in of the 10 Gbps UBB intelligent era through collaboration across the industry.
