LG Display has launched a 31.5-inch Gaming OLED panel with a switchable refresh rate and resolution, offering versatility and advanced technologies to revolutionize the high-end gaming display market.
- Revolutionary switchable refresh rate and resolution
- Dynamic Frequency & Resolution technology for versatile usage
- Advanced features for enhanced immersion and eye comfort
LG Display, the innovator in display technologies, has just launched its latest breakthrough in the gaming industry. The company announced the development of the world’s first Gaming OLED panel with a switchable Refresh Rate and resolution. This panel, measuring 31.5 inches, is set to revolutionize the high-end gaming display market.
What sets this Gaming OLED panel apart is its ability to allow users to choose between a high refresh rate of FHD 480 Hz and a high-resolution mode of UHD 240 Hz, depending on their content preferences. Gamers can now immerse themselves in fast-paced first-person shooter or racing games with the high refresh rate mode, while movie enthusiasts can indulge in the rich visual effects of high-definition 4K content with the high-resolution mode. Unlike conventional panels, which have fixed resolutions regardless of the refresh rate, LG Display’s Gaming OLED panel offers versatility for multiple applications.
Refresh rate and resolution are crucial factors in determining the quality of a display. The refresh rate refers to the number of images displayed per second, while resolution represents the number of pixels a screen can show. With a higher refresh rate, images appear smoother and sharper during fast screen transitions, while a higher resolution ensures more precise video and image quality.
LG Display’s solution is Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR), a technology they have independently developed. DFR allows users to prioritize either refresh rate or resolution by adjusting the image processing speed. This innovation is integrated into LG Display’s 31.5-inch Gaming OLED panel, marking its debut in the market.
To further enhance the immersive experience, LG Display has incorporated other advanced technologies into their Gaming OLED panel. META Technology 2.0, based on their Micro Lens Array (MLA) innovation, maximizes light emission from organic materials, resulting in elevated image quality. Additionally, Thin Actuator Sound technology generates sound directly from the screen itself, eliminating the need for separate speakers and providing a more vivid audio experience.
LG Display has big plans for its Gaming OLED panel, with LG Electronics being the first global gaming gear brand to receive the 31.5-inch panel. This move marks LG Display’s entry into the high-end gaming display market, and they have a full lineup of Gaming OLED panels in the works, ranging from 27 to 45 inches.
Unlike LCDs that require backlighting, LG Display’s Gaming OLED panels are self-emissive, offering perfect blacks and lifelike image quality. With an ultra-high refresh rate of 480 Hz and the fastest Response Time of any panel on the market at 0.03 ms, these panels are sure to impress gamers and enthusiasts alike.
Furthermore, Gaming OLEDs are designed with eye comfort in mind. They emit half the amount of blue light compared to LCD screens and produce no flickering associated with headaches, making them ideal for long gaming sessions without causing eye fatigue.
“We are committed to delivering new customer value through OLED’s differentiated technologies, such as perfect blacks, fast response times, and ultra-high refresh rates. With this, we aim to solidify our leadership in the high-end gaming display market,” said Won-seok Kang, Vice President and Head of the Large Display Product Planning Division at LG Display.
LG Display’s latest innovation in gaming display technology is set to redefine the gaming experience for enthusiasts worldwide. With its unique switchable refresh rate and resolution, coupled with advanced features and superior image quality, this Gaming OLED panel is poised to be a game-changer in the industry.
