Intel’s upcoming 15th Gen Arrow Lake processors are generating quite a buzz in the tech world. The Arrow Lake-S desktop CPUs will be the first from Intel to feature a chiplet design, although unlike AMD’s approach, all the CPU cores will be on the same die. The integrated graphics and I/O will use separate dies, ensuring efficient performance.
Recently, some graphics benchmarks of the Arrow Lake-S and Arrow Lake-H have surfaced in the SiSoftware database. While these are likely engineering samples and not the final products, they do give us a glimpse into how these integrated graphics units (iGPUs) will perform compared to the competition. It’s worth noting that the Arrow Lake parts are slightly faster than their predecessor, Meteor Lake, which is expected given that both leverage the Xe-LPG graphics architecture.
The Arrow Lake-S desktop iGPU is equipped with 64 Vector Engines and 512 ALUs (Arithmetic Logic Units), while the Arrow Lake-H unit boasts twice as many (128 VEs and 1024 ALUs). These specifications put them on par with their Meteor Lake counterparts, and they may even gain a slight advantage when they hit the retail market.
Looking ahead, rumors suggest that Lunar Lake will be the first Core Ultra CPU to adopt the 2nd Gen Battlemage graphics architecture. This new architecture is expected to offer a significant uplift of 40-60% over similar-core Xe-LPG iGPUs. Battlemage achieves this by doubling the SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) width to 16, while halving the Vector Engine count per Xe Core.
While we await the official release of Intel’s 15th Gen Arrow Lake processors, it’s clear that these chips are set to deliver a modest speed boost over their predecessors. With improvements in graphics performance and the adoption of a chiplet design, Intel is aiming to stay competitive in the ever-evolving world of processors.
