NETGEAR introduces WBE750: Wi-Fi 7 Access Point Tackles Overcrowded Networks

March 16, 2024 by our News Team

NETGEAR Business introduces the WBE750 Wi-Fi 7 Access Point designed for businesses, featuring improved specifications compared to Ubiquiti's U7 Pro, higher price at $700, and a 1-year subscription to NETGEAR Insight.

  • Improved performance and speed with wider channels and technical enhancements
  • Higher bandwidth and capacity for more concurrent connected clients
  • Cloud-based management interface for easy network management

Wi-Fi 7 technology is slowly gaining traction in the market, particularly in residential settings. However, the SMB/SME/enterprise market tends to lag behind due to longer validation cycles. Ubiquiti Networks made waves earlier this year with their U7 Pro Wi-Fi 7 access point, and now Netgear Business is joining the fray with their WBE750 Wi-Fi 7 Access Point, designed specifically for businesses with high wireless internet usage.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as 802.11be, offers several benefits that have been discussed in previous articles. These include a relatively interference-free 6 GHz band, wider channels of up to 320 MHz, and technical enhancements to combat interference and reduce Latency. These improvements make Wi-Fi 7 an appealing upgrade for users.

While Ubiquiti’s U7 Pro focused on entry-level configurations, the WBE750 takes a different approach. It features 4×4 configurations in each of the three bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz), allowing for more concurrent connected clients (600 compared to 300) and higher bandwidth (18.4 Gbps theoretical compared to 9.2 Gbps). As expected, the price tag is also higher at $700, compared to Ubiquiti’s $190 offering. The WBE750 also includes a NBASE-T RJ-45 uplink port with PoE++ support and supports up to eight SSIDs per channel.

NETGEAR, like other networking equipment vendors, is embracing recurring subscription-based revenue models. With the purchase of the WBE750, customers receive a 1-year subscription to NETGEAR Insight, a cloud-based management interface. This feature is particularly useful for professional installers who can easily manage multiple sites even from their mobile devices.

The WBE750 joins NETGEAR’s Pro Wi-Fi line, which already includes several Wi-Fi 6 and 6E access points catering to various deployment needs. NETGEAR has been steadily expanding its Insight-manageable product range, allowing for a comprehensive network solution that can be managed from a single interface. As part of their Pro focus, NETGEAR offers free site design services and expert technical support to installers. Their Pro WiFi Design Services aim to differentiate themselves from other products in the SMB/SME market by providing network design, product selection guidance, troubleshooting, and training support.

Powering the WBE750 is Qualcomm’s Waikiki Wi-Fi 7 chipset, integrated into the Networking Pro 1220 platform.

The WBE750 is available for purchase starting today at a price of $700.

Technology Explained

Latency: Technology latency is the time it takes for a computer system to respond to a request. It is an important factor in the performance of computer systems, as it affects the speed and efficiency of data processing. In the computer industry, latency is a major factor in the performance of computer networks, storage systems, and other computer systems. Low latency is essential for applications that require fast response times, such as online gaming, streaming media, and real-time data processing. High latency can cause delays in data processing, resulting in slow response times and poor performance. To reduce latency, computer systems use various techniques such as caching, load balancing, and parallel processing. By reducing latency, computer systems can provide faster response times and improved performance.
