Cambridge Audio has launched the latest addition to its Melomania headphones series, the Melomania M100. This new model introduces Lossless Audio support and Active Noise Cancelling, taking the range to new heights. Building on over 50 years of audio expertise, Cambridge Audio has crafted the M100 with meticulously tuned premium drivers and Hi-fi-grade Class AB amplification, resulting in exceptional sound quality.

One standout feature of the Melomania M100 is its impressive battery life. With a 10-hour battery life (which extends to 16 hours with noise-cancelling turned off), these headphones are perfect for long flights, commutes, or even a full day of work and play.

Cambridge Audio prides itself on being more than just an audio company; it is a brand driven by a genuine love for music. This passion is evident in the craftsmanship of their products, delivering a sublime listening experience that emotionally connects listeners to their favorite tracks.

The Melomania M100 continues Cambridge Audio’s legacy of “Great British Sound” since its inception in 1968. Designed, tuned, and engineered at their London-based music venue and HQ, Melomania, the M100 features a custom 10 mm premium driver with neodymium magnets and Class AB amplification for exceptional sound quality.

To ensure the M100 reaches its full potential, it incorporates Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound with aptX Lossless wireless technology, allowing for wireless playback in CD quality without lossy compression. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) utilizes a hybrid combination of Feed-Back and Feed-Forward technology, effectively blocking out exterior noise for an immersive listening experience.

The Melomania Connect control app offers a range of options to personalize the audio experience. With a seven-band EQ and six presets tailored to different music genres, listeners can fine-tune the sound to their preferences.

Battery life and wearability are also key considerations for the M100. With up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge (or 16 hours with ANC off), users can enjoy their music without interruptions. The carrying case provides more than two full charges, extending the total battery life to a remarkable 52 hours. Additionally, the M100 has been designed for maximum comfort, with data from thousands of pairs of ears ensuring a well-balanced and lightweight fit.

Cambridge Audio has taken user feedback into account when refining the M100. With Bluetooth connectivity that supports Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, pairing the headphones with Android devices or Windows PCs is effortless. The touch controls have been improved for better responsiveness and can be customized individually through the Melomania Connect app.

The Melomania M100 also features Gaming Mode, which minimizes screen/sound sync issues while playing games and reduces Latency to just 80 ms. With Bluetooth 5.3 and LE Audio, the M100 offers futureproofing potential and the ability to support new technologies like AuraCast Broadcast Audio and the LC3 audio codec.

In line with their commitment to sustainability, Cambridge Audio has incorporated recycled materials into the M100, including recycled Neodymium for the driver magnets and 50% recycled plastic. The headphones are also shipped in plastic-free packaging, reflecting the brand’s dedication to reducing environmental impact.

The Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 is available now on the Cambridge Audio website and Amazon, priced at £169/€199/$219.

Technology Explained

ANC: Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a technology that is used to reduce unwanted background noise in a variety of applications. It works by using microphones to detect the ambient noise and then producing an inverted sound wave to cancel it out. This technology is used in many computer applications, such as headphones, speakers, and sound cards. It is also used in noise-cancelling headphones, which are designed to reduce the amount of background noise that reaches the user's ears. ANC is also used in soundproofing applications, such as recording studios and soundproofed rooms. By reducing the amount of background noise, ANC allows for clearer sound recordings and improved sound quality.
