AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” CPUs Set for Sept 2024 Debut, Preceding Intel’s 15th Gen Arrow Lake

AMD is set to release their Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 processors and a 192 core Epyc CPU in September 2024, while Intel plans to launch their 15th Gen Arrow Lake-S processors in late 2024, with both companies aiming to dominate the CPU market with their new lineups.

According to popular YouTuber “Moore’s Law is Dead,” AMD partners are already preparing for the launch of a 500W Epyc server, which could hit the market as early as September.

The source also suggests that AMD CEO Lisa Su will make a strong statement this fall by unveiling multiple Zen 5 lineups, including the Ryzen 9000 “Granite Ridge” desktop processors and Epyc Turin server processors. On the other side of the competition, Intel is expected to release their 15th Gen Arrow Lake-S processors in late 2024, possibly in December. However, there are speculations that this might be a paper launch, meaning that the actual availability of the processors could be delayed. Similar to AMD’s Ryzen 9000 lineup, only the Arrow Lake desktop processors, such as the Core i9-15900K and the i7-15700K, are expected to be released this year, with the notebook family following in 2025.

According to sources cited by “Moore’s Law is Dead,” Arrow Lake processors are projected to deliver a significant performance boost of 25% to 35% compared to Intel’s previous generation Meteor Lake at the same core counts. The 15th Gen desktop family is rumored to offer up to 24 cores, divided into 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. In contrast, Meteor Lake is limited to 14 cores, with 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores.

In terms of integrated graphics, Arrow Lake mobile processors will feature 8 Xe cores based on the Alchemist+ architecture, which is essentially the same as Meteor Lake. However, the exciting aspect is that Intel aims to achieve the same level of performance as their Core Ultra chips while operating at half the power.
