Supermicro expands its range of AI solutions, including the Hyper-E server with dual Intel Xeon processors and NVIDIA GPUs, to enable real-time decision-making and improved customer experiences at edge locations.
- Widest portfolio of Edge AI solutions in the industry
- High-performing accelerated computing infrastructure for edge AI workloads
- Ability to process AI data at the edge, improving response times and decision-making capabilities
Supermicro, a leading IT solution manufacturer, is expanding its range of AI solutions to enable customers to harness the power of AI in edge locations. These edge locations include public spaces, retail stores, and industrial infrastructure. By using Supermicro servers optimized for AI applications with nVidia GPUs, customers can fine-tune pre-trained models and deploy AI inference solutions at the edge where data is generated. This improves response times and decision-making capabilities.
Supermicro boasts the widest portfolio of Edge AI solutions in the industry, supporting pre-trained models for various edge environments. The Supermicro Hyper-E server, powered by dual 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors, can accommodate up to three NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, delivering unmatched performance for Edge AI. With up to 8 TB of memory, Supermicro brings data center AI processing power to edge locations. This allows enterprises to gain a competitive advantage by processing AI data at the edge.
With these server advancements, there’s no longer a need to send data back to the cloud for processing and then retrieve the information back to the edge. Instead, customers can leverage pre-trained large language models (LLMs) optimized for performance and available with NVIDIA AI Enterprise directly at their edge locations. This ensures accurate, real-time decision-making close to the data origination.
Industries such as healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and automotive are increasingly looking to leverage AI at the edge. Supermicro’s new NVIDIA-certified systems, powered by the NVIDIA AI platform, are specifically designed to deliver high-performing accelerated computing infrastructure for running edge AI workloads.
One example of Supermicro’s edge server products is the Hyper-E server, known as the SYS-221HE. This server is optimized for edge training and inferencing and supports dual socket CPUs in a short-depth, front I/O system. It can accommodate up to 3 double-width NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs, including models such as the NVIDIA H100, A10, L40S, A40, and A2. The computing power provided by these GPUs allows the Supermicro Hyper-E to process AI workloads at edge environments where data is collected, analyzed, and stored. The server is available with front or rear servicing options, making it suitable for various deployment environments. Partners like Eviden are already utilizing the power and flexibility of the Supermicro Hyper-E server to create Edge AI solutions that enhance the customer experience in traditional retail outlets.
Supermicro’s advanced edge servers also include other models such as the SYS-621C-TNR12R, an All-in-One rackmount platform for Cloud Data Centers, and the SYS-111E-FWTR, a high-density edge system ideal for networking and edge applications. The compact SYS-E403-13E delivers data center-level performance in a box PC form factor, while the SYS-211E-FRN2T is specifically designed to fit in space-constrained networking edge environments. The powerful and versatile SYS-211SE-31D/A is a multi-node system featuring three independent nodes, each with a 5th Gen Intel Xeon processor. Lastly, the compact IoT server SYS-E300-13AD is perfect for delivering distributed AI capabilities to the edge.
One of Supermicro’s partners, Eviden, has developed an AI-powered retail solution using Supermicro edge systems and NVIDIA technologies. This solution revolutionizes the way people navigate and interact with physical stores. It offers customers interactive and personalized shopping experiences through 3D models of stores and chatbots that provide relevant information. The combination of lifelike facial animations, advanced speech recognition, and 3D modeling creates a virtual shopping experience that rivals visiting a physical store.
Supermicro’s expansion of its AI solutions portfolio provides customers with the tools they need to harness the power of AI at the edge. With optimized servers and NVIDIA GPUs, businesses across various industries can improve their decision-making capabilities and enhance customer experiences.
