Get ready to take your CATAN experience to the next level with the exciting Cities & Knights expansion! This expansion, developed by Dovetail Games in collaboration with Nomad Games, brings a whole new set of rules, mechanics, and commodities to the beloved board game.
Cities & Knights is a favorite among dedicated CATAN players who crave a deeper and more complex gaming experience. Since its release as an expansion to the original CATAN board game in 1998, it has garnered a loyal fan base. And now, with the official console version, players can enjoy the same immersive gameplay on their screens.
In this expansion, players must focus on improving their cities by acquiring essential commodities such as paper, coin, and cloth. By transforming their cities into bustling metropolises, players not only compete against each other but also join forces to defend against the impending barbarian horde threatening the Island of Catan. The strength of the horde is determined by the total number of cities on the board, making it crucial for players to work together and pool their resources.
To enhance the cooperative nature of the game, CATAN introduces the Card Companion feature on smartphones. This allows players to gather around one TV without revealing their resources to others. Additionally, online play offers Cross-play functionality, enabling players from different consoles to enjoy CATAN – Console Edition: Cities & Knights together.
If you’re new to CATAN – Console Edition and want to dive into the Cities & Knights expansion, keep in mind that you’ll need the base game of CATAN to play. The base game is available on Playstation 4/5, XBOX One, S/X, and Nintendo Switch, so make sure you have it before delving into this exciting expansion.
Cities & Knights also serves as the final piece of content in the complete Season Pass. With the Season Pass, players gain access to The Helpers expansion and three seasonal content packs: “Reap & Sow: Fall Content Pack,” “Ice & Snow: Winter Content Pack,” and “Bloom & Grow: Spring Content Pack.” Please note that the Season Pass is not available on Nintendo Switch.
