  • Ability to upgrade for a discounted price for those who already own the game
  • Expanded suite of accessibility features and customizable options

Naughty Dog is gearing up to release The Last of Us Part II Remastered on January 19, and they couldn’t be more excited to offer both new and returning players the ultimate way to experience Ellie and Abby’s story. This enhanced version of the game not only includes new behind-the-scenes features and modes but also allows players to delve deeper into the captivating narrative and gameplay. To give fans a taste of what to expect, Naughty Dog has released a new features trailer that showcases the various enhancements in The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

For those who already own The Last of Us Part II on the Playstation 4, there’s good news. You can upgrade to the remastered version for just $10 when it launches. Simply head over to the PlayStation Store and purchase the upgrade. If you own a physical copy of the game, you’ll need to insert the disc into your PS5 to download and play the digital version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered. What’s even better is that you can import your existing saves from the original PS4 game, allowing you to pick up right where you left off. Your Trophy progress will also carry over seamlessly.

One of the exciting new additions in Part II Remastered is the single-player roguelike survival mode called No Return. This mode introduces a fresh set of trophies and offers players the opportunity to play as 10 different characters, some of whom have never been playable before in The Last of Us universe. With thrilling gameplay mods and seamless integration of accessibility features, No Return promises an immersive and challenging experience. Players can even create custom runs to suit their preferences, adding a unique twist to the gameplay. And if you’re up for some healthy competition, you can compare your Daily Run scores with others on the leaderboards.

But that’s not all. Part II Remastered also introduces Guitar Free Play, a mode that allows players to fully immerse themselves in the game’s guitar-playing minigame. As you play as Joel, Ellie, and even The Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla, you can strum on various instruments like the guitar, banjo, and steel resonator. Use FX pedals to modulate your performance and showcase your musical expertise. Naughty Dog has also expanded its suite of accessibility features, including Speech to Vibrations and Cinematic Descriptions, which were previously introduced in The Last of Us Part I. Additionally, Speedrun Mode makes a return, and new features like dynamic lighting, Frame Forward, Gaze Direction, and customizable options for Photo Mode have been added.

In addition to these exciting gameplay features, Naughty Dog has included content that provides a deeper understanding of the game’s development. Players can now enjoy hours of developer commentary from the likes of Neil Druckmann, Halley Gross, Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Shannon Woodward. These insightful commentaries accompany cinematics and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s creation process. There are also three Lost Levels that showcase early-development slices of levels that didn’t make it into the final game. These levels come with developer commentary that explains the intentions and plans behind them.

But the excitement doesn’t end there. Naughty Dog has announced that a documentary titled Grounded II: Making The Last of Us Part II will be added to The Last of Us Part II Remastered in a post-launch update. This sequel to the original Grounded documentary for The Last of Us will provide a comprehensive look at the development of Part II. While the release date for this documentary is yet to be announced, fans can expect updates on Naughty Dog’s social channels. In the meantime, make sure to check out the impressive Features trailer for The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

As players embark on their adventure on January 19, Naughty Dog encourages them to share their experiences with No Return’s Daily Runs and showcase their stunning Photo Mode shots from the game using the hashtag #NoReturn. They’ll even be featuring some of their favorites on the official Naughty Dog Twitter account. The team at Naughty Dog expresses their gratitude to both returning and new players for their support, as it allows them to continue crafting meaningful experiences that resonate with fans.
