Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. hosted its inaugural Samsung System LSI Tech Day 2023 event, where it launched its latest innovations in analog and logic semiconductor technologies. The event, attended by approximately 300 customers and partners, featured tech sessions led by Samsung executives, covering topics such as System LSI humanoids, AI, and the company’s R&D endeavors in the U.S.
In the opening keynote, Samsung highlighted its vision to lead in hyper-intelligent, hyper-connected, and hyper-data technologies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. Yong-In Park, President and Head of System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the importance of powerful foundational technologies to process data and bring AI to life. He introduced the Samsung System LSI Humanoid platform, which integrates various logic semiconductors to enable proactive AI.
One of the highlights of the event was the preview of Samsung’s next-generation flagship mobile processor, the Exynos 2400. The processor features enhanced Ray Tracing capabilities for improved realism and immersion in gaming. It offers a significant increase in CPU and AI performance compared to its predecessor, the Exynos 2200. Samsung also showcased its new AI tool for smartphones, demonstrating text-to-image AI generation.
Samsung also launched its Zoom Anyplace technology based on its 200-million pixel image sensor. This innovation allows mobile users to take up to 4x close-ups of moving objects without image degradation. The company also introduced other advancements, including a next-generation 5G modem for Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) non-terrestrial networks (NTN), a new vision sensor brand called ISOCELL Vizion, and a Smart Health processor.
The event showcased Samsung’s latest automotive processor, the Exynos Auto V920, running applications across multiple displays. The ISOCELL Auto 1H1 image sensor was also highlighted for its high dynamic range (HDR) and superior LED flicker mitigation (LFM) performance, ensuring safer driving.
Samsung demonstrated its expertise in cellular and connectivity technologies with a video demo of NB-IoT NTN satellite communication and wireless lighting control through its ultra-wideband (UWB) solution, the Exynos Connect U100.
Other innovations on display included a 200-megapixel ultra-high-resolution image sensor, an advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving camera solution, a quantum-dot OLED display driver IC, IoT security solutions, and wireless-charging power management IC.
During a panel discussion, Samsung’s Sukhwan Lim joined academic experts to discuss the implications of generative AI and large language models on compute platforms.
Overall, Samsung’s System LSI Tech Day 2023 event showcased the company’s commitment to advancing semiconductor technologies and its vision for the future of AI and connectivity.
