NVIDIA rumored to develop early 2024 release of GeForce RTX 4080 Ti featuring AD102 GPU

nVidia RTX 4080 Ti Rumored to be in the Works

According to a reliable hardware leaker known as MEGAsizeGPU, NVIDIA might be gearing up to introduce a new addition to its graphics card lineup. The upcoming card is speculated to be named either the RTX 4080 Ti or RTX 4080 SUPER, although the final designation has yet to be confirmed. Considering NVIDIA’s departure from the SUPER series in the RTX 30 lineup and the absence of a Ti variant for the RTX 4080, it seems more likely that the card will be called RTX 4080 Ti.

While official specifications for the card have not been released, there are indications that the underlying GPU will receive an upgrade to AD102 specifications. It is expected to have a Total Graphics Power (TGP) of less than 450W. It’s worth noting that the current RTX 4080 model features the AD103 GPU with 9728 CUDA cores, falling short of the full capacity of the graphics processor, which boasts 10240 cores. This suggests that NVIDIA is aiming for even greater performance, bridging the gap between the 9728 and 16384 core specifications of the RTX 4090.

The leaked information suggests that the RTX 4080 Ti might launch in early 2024. This aligns with long-standing speculation about NVIDIA releasing higher-end variants like the RTX 4090 Ti or RTX 4080 Ti, as the existing non-Ti variants do not fully utilize the ADA silicon. The price point for the new card is expected to be similar to that of the current RTX 4080, which is priced at $1,199. This could potentially lead to a price cut for the original RTX 4080 in the future.

While details on memory specifications are still unknown, it is speculated that the RTX 4080 Ti could support 20GB of GDDR6X memory, positioning it between the 24GB and 16GB configurations seen on the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, respectively. However, this configuration would require a 320-bit memory bus.
