Intel’s highly anticipated Core i9-14900k CPU is stirring up the gaming PC market. Newegg, a popular online retailer, briefly listed two high-end gaming PCs powered by this next-gen desktop processor. The manufacturers, Skytech and CLX, are preparing for the imminent release of the Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs.
One of the systems, the CLX PC, boasts an impressive configuration. It features a powerful 24-core Intel i9-14900K CPU, paired with 128GB of DDR5 memory, a 2TB SSD, a massive 6TB HDD, and an RTX 4090 graphics card. The listing on Newegg revealed a price tag of $6,999 for this beastly setup. Interestingly, the CLX system also offers a unique vinyl sticker on its side window resembling a blood splatter, although buyers have the option to choose a version without this design.
The other system, the Skytech PC, shares many similarities with the CLX PC. It also includes the Core i9-14900K CPU and an RTX 4090 graphics card. However, it differs in a few key aspects. The Skytech system lacks the 6TB HDD drive and has half the DDR5 memory capacity. On the plus side, it comes with a keyboard and mouse in the package and carries a more budget-friendly price of $3,899.
Both of these gaming PCs are expected to be available for pre-order in just three days when the official embargo is lifted. It’s worth noting that the Core i9-14900K is the flagship SKU in Intel’s upcoming CPU lineup. With its impressive 24 cores and turbo spec of 6.0 GHz, it represents the pinnacle of performance on the LGA-1700 platform. This release also marks the final update for this platform, as Intel plans to transition to the LGA1851 platform next year.

Technology Explained
CPU: The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the brain of a computer, responsible for executing instructions and performing calculations. It is the most important component of a computer system, as it is responsible for controlling all other components. CPUs are used in a wide range of applications, from desktop computers to mobile devices, gaming consoles, and even supercomputers. CPUs are used to process data, execute instructions, and control the flow of information within a computer system. They are also used to control the input and output of data, as well as to store and retrieve data from memory. CPUs are essential for the functioning of any computer system, and their applications in the computer industry are vast.

DDR5: DDR5 (Double Data Rate 5) is the next generation of memory technology for the computer industry. It is a modern day improvement on earlier DDR technologies, with faster speeds, greater bandwidth and higher capacities. DDR5 enables higher resolution, seamless gaming experiences and faster data transfer rates, making it an ideal choice for high-performance computing and 4K gaming. With its greater RAM compatibility, DDR5 provides faster buffering times and raised clock speeds, giving users an improved overall work system. DDR5 is also optimized for multi-tasking, allowing users to multitask without experiencing a significant drop in performance, increasing the productivity of digital tasks. As an ever-evolving technology, DDR5 is paving the way for the computer industry into a new and powerful era.

HDD: A Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is a classic data storage device that utilizes spinning disks, or platters, coated with a magnetic material to store and retrieve data. An actuator arm with read/write heads accesses data by moving over the spinning platters. HDDs offer large storage capacities at a comparatively lower cost per gigabyte, making them suitable for applications where massive data storage is required, such as servers and desktop computers. However, HDDs are slower in terms of read and write speeds compared to SSDs due to the mechanical nature of their operation. They are more susceptible to physical shocks and are less energy-efficient due to the need to constantly spin the platters.

SSD: A Solid State Drive (SSD) is a modern data storage device that employs flash memory technology to store data electronically. Unlike traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in significantly faster read and write speeds. This leads to quicker boot times, faster application loading, and smoother overall system performance. SSDs are known for their durability, shock resistance, and energy efficiency, making them ideal for laptops, ultrabooks, and other portable devices. They come in various form factors, including 2.5-inch, M.2, and PCIe cards, and are favored for their reliability, quiet operation, and reduced heat generation
