Moreover, Micron remains committed to sustainability, as evidenced by the facility’s design adhering to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system—the most widely-used green building certification worldwide. By surpassing the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) standard, the facility reduces energy consumption by over 25%, setting a high benchmark for eco-friendly semiconductor manufacturing.

In 2022, Micron announced that its Malaysian facilities would be powered by 100% renewable electricity, making them the first within Micron’s global network to achieve this milestone. The new Batu Kawan facility aligns with Micron’s sustainability goals, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050 and zero hazardous waste to landfills by 2030.
