According to MEGAsizeGPU, the RTX 4070 SUPER is expected to feature the AD103 GPU and come with 16GB of 256-bit memory. This potential upgrade in specifications could significantly enhance the performance of the RTX 4070 series, particularly in terms of memory capabilities.

The shift to the AD103 GPU is necessary to enable a wider memory bus, as the current RTX 4070 models are limited by the 192-bit bus on the AD104 GPU. However, it’s worth noting that this upgrade seems to focus more on improving memory capabilities rather than increasing the core count.

In addition, there are reports suggesting that NVIDIA might release an RTX 4070 model with GDDR6 memory instead of the GDDR6X found in other models. While this could represent a downgrade in terms of memory bandwidth, it could also make the card more appealing if it comes with a lower price tag, potentially falling within the range of the RTX 4060 Ti priced at $500. The current pricing for the RTX 4070 at $550 might not be as attractive to consumers.

According to MEGAsizeGPU, there might be two new cards in the future: the 4070 D6, which will have the same specifications as the 4070 but with GDDR6 memory, and the 4070 SUPER, based on the AD103 GPU with a 256-bit bandwidth and 16GB of VRAM.

Previously, MEGAsizeGPU had also mentioned an upcoming update to the RTX 4080, potentially in the form of a Ti or SUPER variant. This updated card is expected to maintain the original RTX 4080’s price, suggesting the possibility of a price reduction for the base model in the near future.

These rumors mark the third time that hardware leakers have claimed NVIDIA is preparing a refresh for the RTX 40 series. The common theme among these rumored updates is either improved memory or GPU specifications.
