Intel's highly anticipated 14th Gen Core Desktop CPUs, the Raptor Lake Refresh, have been prematurely sold by a European retailer, Alternate, before the official embargo was lifted, raising concerns about Intel's communication with retailers.

Intel Raptor Lake Refresh, the highly anticipated new line of desktop CPUs, has become the worst kept secret in CPU launch history. European retailer, Alternate, made a major blunder by accidentally selling nine Core i9-14900k CPUs before the official embargo was lifted. Enthusiasts wasted no time in snatching up these processors, despite the premature sale being terminated shortly after it went live.
Although Alternate may not offer the most competitive prices in Germany, the listed price of €684.99 for the Core i9-14900K gives us a rough idea of what customers can expect to pay. Interestingly, this price is only €21 higher than the current listing for the i9-13900K at the same store.
However, it’s important to note that these prices may not be official and could have been mistakenly displayed as placeholders. This incident raises concerns about Intel’s communication with retailers, as it is not the first time a Raptor Lake Refresh CPU has hit the market prematurely. Just recently, an Indonesian store sold the Core i7-14700k without any apparent issues.
The product page on eBay confirms all the specifications and product codes associated with the Core i9-14900K, including 24-core configurations and clock speeds of 6.0 GHz. Notably, this particular CPU was sold as a tray unit.
Officially, the 14th Gen Core Desktop CPUs are set to be launched on October 17th, with preorders starting a day earlier.
