Dell Technologies has launched its latest innovation in the rugged tablet market with the introduction of the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet. This new device is being hailed as the world’s lightest 10-inch fully rugged Windows tablet, offering professionals working in harsh environments a portable solution that doesn’t compromise on durability.
The 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet is designed to be the ultimate companion for workers who spend most of their time away from a desk, whether they’re on a factory line, in a machine shop, or even atop a snowy mountain. Its lightweight 2.2-pound chassis and robust ecosystem of accessories make it a practical choice for those who need a reliable device that won’t weigh them down during long shifts.
This new tablet is the smaller sibling of Dell’s previously launched Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme Tablet, a 12-inch fully rugged slate. While the 12-inch model excels in short commutes or hours-long shifts on the factory floor, the 10-inch version offers all-day mobility. Users can effortlessly connect to machinery using the larger screen and extra port on the 12-inch model, and then switch to the 10-inch tablet for line inspections.
One of the key features of the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet is its swappable battery option. Dell has engineered this device with a dual hot-swappable battery system, allowing users to easily replace batteries on the go and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the field. This is particularly important for professionals who prioritize portability and need their devices to stay powered throughout their workday.
Despite its compact size, the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet doesn’t compromise on durability and security. It boasts IP-65 and MIL-STD 810 ratings, making it capable of withstanding extreme conditions. It has been drop-tested from up to four feet and can endure temperatures ranging from -20°F to 145°F. Additionally, it has an IP-65 rating, providing maximum protection against dust, dirt, and water ingress. This ensures that the tablet, as well as the sensitive data stored within it, remains safe even in the harshest weather environments.
The tablet is equipped with modern security features to protect against cyber threats. It includes a TPM 2.0 ControlVault for hardware-based encryption, an infrared camera for Microsoft Windows Hello-based facial recognition, a touch fingerprint reader, camera privacy shutters, and a contacted or contactless smartcard reader. These security measures ensure that users can confidently store and access their data without worrying about unauthorized access.
In terms of performance, the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet doesn’t disappoint. It comes equipped with up to a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, integrated Iris Xe graphics on i5 and i7 configurations, and up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 memory. This ensures powerful performance on the go, allowing professionals to handle demanding tasks without any lag or slowdown. The tablet also supports up to a 2 TB NVMe SSD, providing ample storage space for files and applications.
Connectivity is another strong suit of the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet. It supports Wi-Fi 6E with dual broadband, ensuring fast and reliable internet speeds. It also comes with GPS and 5G capabilities, with support for 5G Private Network for enhanced security, speed, and wireless range. These connectivity options enable professionals to stay connected and access real-time data even in remote locations.
The tablet features a 10.1-inch FHD+ display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, maximizing screen real estate for better productivity. The panel can reach 1000 nits of brightness, making it easily visible even in direct sunlight. Additionally, the tablet offers glove-touch capability, allowing users who work with harsh chemicals or dangerous equipment to operate the device while wearing gloves.
To complement the 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet, Dell has developed purpose-built accessories that cater to specific industry demands. These accessories include a rigid handle and passive stylus for improved grip and precision, a detachable keyboard to convert the tablet into a 2-in-1 device, and a rotating hand strap for secure and comfortable use in various environments. The tablet’s configurable ports can also be customized with a barcode scanner, RJ-45, universal audio jack, or USB-A, further enhancing its versatility.
The 7030 Rugged Extreme Tablet is set to be available globally later this year, with pricing details to be announced closer to the shipping date. For companies looking to deploy rugged devices at scale, Dell offers seamless deployment, management, and security solutions through its enterprise services. These services include next business day on-site support and predictive ProSupport tools. With Dell’s comprehensive range of commercial products and services, businesses can rely on a single provider for all their needs, ensuring scalability and convenience.
