As we approach the end of 2023, it’s time to start looking ahead to what Steam has in store for us in 2024. The official Steam events for the first few months of the new year have been announced, and we’ve got all the details for you right here.
First up, let’s do a quick refresher on Steam events. These events are a great opportunity for developers to promote their games and connect with players. Whether it’s through discounts, demos, or livestreams, these events offer a variety of ways for developers to engage with their audience.
Now, let’s dive into the events schedule for the first quarter of 2024. We’ve got four major seasonal sales lined up, happening throughout the year. These sales are open to all released games, giving developers the chance to participate and offer discounts to players.
But that’s not all. Steam also has themed sale events, or fests, planned for 2024. Each fest is centered around a specific category of games, with its own eligibility criteria. These events not only highlight discounted games, but also make room for free games, upcoming releases, and games with demos. It’s a great opportunity for developers to showcase their work and attract attention from players.
One of the most exciting events on the calendar is Steam Next Fest. Happening three times a year, this multi-day celebration allows fans to try out game demos, engage with developers, watch livestreams, and get a sneak peek at upcoming games on Steam. For developers, it’s a chance to gather valuable feedback from players and start building an audience for their future launch on Steam.
If you’re interested in participating in any of these events, you can start planning your promotional activities now. Simply visit your Discount Management page in Steamworks to see the upcoming events and check if your games are eligible for each. For Steam Next Fest, you’ll find the registration URL in the event-specific documentation.
Not quite ready to register? No worries. Steam will send registration invitation emails to developers of eligible titles about two months prior to each themed sale event and five months prior to each Steam Next Fest. So you’ll have plenty of time to get everything in order.
For more information and detailed guidelines on each event, make sure to check out the documentation provided by Steam. You can find all the necessary links in the announcement.
Keep in mind that while the schedule and events are subject to change, Steam aims to stick to the plan as much as possible. However, they do reserve the right to make adjustments if necessary.
So mark your calendars and get ready for an exciting year ahead on Steam. It’s going to be a great opportunity for developers and players alike to connect, discover new games, and enjoy some amazing discounts.
