QNAP Systems, a innovator in computing, networking, and storage solutions, has launched its latest products – the QGD-1600 and QGD-1602 smart edge switches. These switches not only provide Layer 2 network management and software-defined features but also support running virtual machines (VMs) for deploying VPNs, firewalls, and network management functions. Additionally, they offer comprehensive cybersecurity protection for all connected LAN devices at the access switch layer through ADRA NDR software.
The QGD smart edge switches have already garnered positive feedback from users due to their integration of NAS and switch functions. The new non-PoE models, QGD-1600 and QGD-1602, further enhance LAN security with their affordable price points. They offer an All-in-One network solution with built-in cybersecurity software or the ability to run VMs for additional software applications.
The QGD-1602 is equipped with eight 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, eight Gigabit RJ45 ports, two 10GbE SFP+ fiber ports, and Intel Atom C3000 processors with Intel QuickAssist technology. It also features dual PCIe Gen 3 x4 slots and dual M.2 NVMe SSD slots for SSD caching, resulting in improved IOPS performance. On the other hand, the QGD-1600 boasts fourteen Gigabit RJ45 ports, two Gigabit RJ45/SFP combo ports, an Intel Celeron J4115 processor, and dual PCIe Gen 2 x2 slots. It offers flexible storage expansion options by connecting to QNAP storage expansion units.
To enhance cybersecurity, users can deploy ADRA NDR software on the QGD-1600 or QGD-1602 at the access switch layer. This software proactively identifies and blocks suspicious lateral movements on the local network, safeguarding private and confidential data from malicious attacks.
Moreover, the QGD-1600 and QGD-1602 support running various QNAP software and VM applications through the QTS operating system. For instance, QuWAN, QNAP’s SD-WAN solution, establishes a full mesh IPsec VPN topology between QNAP devices in multiple sites, catering to enterprise video, VoIP, ERP system data, and filing needs. These switches also support MikroTik RouterOS, OpenWrt, or pfSense firewall for flexible routing functions and multiple security policies. Additionally, they are compatible with the Zabbix Network Management Platform for auto-detecting SNMP-compliant servers/devices and monitoring network status.
