nVidia wasted no time in releasing a “Game Ready” driver for Starfield, beating both Intel and AMD to the punch. Despite some quirks, the driver performed well, although it fell behind AMD in terms of performance. According to Digital Foundry, NVIDIA and Intel users had a worse experience compared to their AMD counterparts.
In their ongoing quest to enhance performance, NVIDIA has rolled out an Over-The-Air (OTA) update focused on improving Resizable BAR support. This update is compatible with both Geforce RTX 30 and 40 series desktop and laptop GPUs. Gamers using the 573.34 or 537.14 drivers should see this OTA update automatically applied.
Today, NVIDIA is releasing a Resizable BAR profile for Starfield, which boosts performance on GeForce RTX 40 Series and GeForce RTX 30 Series desktop and laptop GPUs. In our testing, GeForce RTX 40 Series desktop GPUs saw an average 5% increase in performance. The Starfield Resizable BAR update will be pushed via an Over-The-Air (OTA) update from NVIDIA and will be automatically applied for gamers running the latest Game Ready Driver (537.34) or the previous release (537.17).
If the OTA update doesn’t work, Sean Pelletier, the NVIDIA Game Ready program chief, explains how to verify if the update was applied:
“You can force the OTA update to be pulled down by restarting your system. You can confirm the ReBAR profile is downloaded by checking the log here: C:ProgramDataNVIDIA CorporationNvProfileUpdaterPlugin.”
Additionally, the newest driver simplifies optimizing Starfield settings for GeForce Experience users with a convenient one-click option. It also addresses issues with game profiles when dealing with Starfield installations from the Microsoft Store.
NVIDIA’s commitment to improving Starfield is clear, but gamers who want to boost performance right away can try third-party DLSS3 mods with Frame Generation. These mods can significantly enhance the game’s performance, especially for those without access to such technology otherwise.
