Linksys has launched its latest innovation, Cognitive Security, which combines intelligent technologies with user-centric design to simplify and secure our digital lives.
- Automatically blocks malicious websites and adult content
- Introduces a feature called "Instant Guest" which allows users to issue temporary credentials for guests to access their home network
- Implements Secure Boot/Image which prevents unauthorized firmware from being installed and executed on your devices
Linksys, the provider of connectivity solutions for homes and small offices, has launched its latest innovation in the form of Cognitive Security. This technology will complement the recently released Designer Series and will be featured in the upcoming Icon Series later this year.
The term “Cognitive” in the tech realm refers to intelligent technologies that can effectively solve problems either through user input or automation. In its initial phase, Linksys Cognitive Security has been developed based on valuable user feedback, with a focus on streamlining user experience and minimizing effort.
The Designer Series products that will incorporate Cognitive Security are as follows: Velop Pro 6E, which is already available; Velop Pro 7, set to ship in September; Velop Micro Router 6 and Velop Micro Mesh 6, both expected to be released in October or November.
So, what exactly does Cognitive Security bring to the table? Well, for starters, it automatically blocks malicious websites and adult content using either Fortinet Secure DNS or Cisco OpenDNS. Additionally, it introduces a feature called “Instant Guest,” which allows users to issue temporary credentials for guests to access their home network. These temporary networks are programmed to self-delete after a predetermined time frame. Furthermore, Cognitive Security ensures the security of your home network by implementing Secure Boot/Image, which prevents unauthorized firmware from being installed and executed on your devices.
Cognitive Security aligns with Linksys’ previous advancements in technology, such as Cognitive Mesh and Cognitive Experience. These technologies continually enhance the user experience with each update. In Phase 2 of Cognitive Security, Linksys plans to introduce even more intelligent features that humanize the home network. These features may include notifications when a new device joins the network for the first time, rolling reminders to change the Network Administrator password, and user-initiated encrypted backups of the network configuration.
To optimize device performance and ensure secure WiFi usage, Cognitive Security works tirelessly in the background. Users can easily make adjustments and fine-tune their security settings using the Linksys App, which offers advanced security options and safe browsing features to further enhance online safety.
With Cognitive Security, Linksys is once again pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of home networking. By combining intelligent technologies with user-centric design, Linksys continues to provide innovative solutions that simplify and secure our digital lives.
