Lexmark, a global imaging and IoT solutions leader, has announced a new partnership with HARMAN Digital Transformation Solutions. As part of its IoT products portfolio, HARMAN will deploy Lexmark’s IoT technology on specific projects for customers across various industries. The collaboration aims to combine IoT with AI to address the challenges faced by enterprises and public institutions.
Lexmark will provide its industry-leading Optra IoT technology, while HARMAN will contribute domain competency and its extensive network of integration expertise. Together, they will assist clients in developing new types of industrial IoT applications, such as Industry 4.0, remote monitoring of manufacturing plants, medical devices, and connected products.
Vishal Gupta, senior vice president and chief technology and information officer at Lexmark, stated that their expertise in IoT for connected products and visual AI capabilities for connected operations will provide HARMAN with rapid solution capabilities. He also mentioned that HARMAN’s customer network will allow Lexmark to expand its footprint and grow its IoT business further.
One of the first products from this partnership will be an AI-powered solution that can detect anomalies and defects in products on a manufacturing line. This solution aims to replace labor-intensive manual inspections. Lexmark has already used a similar solution internally, which resulted in a 40% improvement in inspection speed, a 99% reduction in errors, and an ROI within three months.
Sanjay Bhartiya, Commercial General Manager at HARMAN Digital Transformation Solutions, expressed confidence in delivering the best IoT solutions to customers, particularly in the healthcare and industrial sectors. He highlighted HARMAN’s expertise and talented team as factors that give them an edge in the industry.
Lexmark’s Optra Edge is a user-friendly platform that combines edge computing hardware with a low code/no code cloud-based management portal and pre-built AI/ML applications. This platform makes it easier and faster to turn real-time data into real-time action. Optra Edge acts as a translator between devices and back-end systems, providing powerful local computation ability without relying on the cloud.
